Was great when it was part of Micron, disappointing once it became Aptina

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) San Jose, CA

    Proscolleagues easy to work with

ConsThere is no return/reward for working hard and be a top performer. If you are good at what you do, keep doing it (no chance for promotion or salary increase), if you suck at your job, that's ok, there is no penalty either. This environment does not promote creative thinking, innovation and strive for the best. Therefore, Aptina is constantly behind competition on technology, has business model that doesn't make sense, and cannot attract talent.

Political to a disturbing amount, but passes the time

Sales Manager (Current Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsGreat facility. Some truly nice people -- made friends for life with many co-workers. Some people really do care. Pay is generally pretty good!

ConsEroding customer base due to products that are less and less competitive. Upper management is either blind to or powerless to stop it. Highly political--career success is not based on your accomplishments, but who you kiss in the right place. Recently shed a very, very good CEO.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on your REAL problem--your products are simply not competitive. Stop blaming sales, marketing, finance, operations...your problem is in your engineering leadership. Fix that. The rest will follow.

Finally, get rid of the BU's. They drive nothing but division.

    Terrible Place to Work

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsThere are some really great people at Aptina who are dedicated, hard working, and smart.
The office is in a pretty good location.
    The technology is pretty cool.

    ConsThere is no accountability here.
Product development is disorganized and chaotic. A serious disconnect between the business groups and engineering leads to late delivery of the wrong products
The executive floor is an ivory tower that is completely disconnected from the worker bees.

Advice to Senior ManagementShut it down and put everyone out of their misery.
You cannot expect people to keep drinking the koolaid.
The executive team is should have been replaced years ago, middle management is full of favoritism and brown nosers, and the recent layoff seemed to be vindictive about who was targeted.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
