Pros
it was convenient while going to school at the university, great environment (as long as there wasn't anyone corporate around),
Cons
no raises, no communication, unfair raise practices, shotty management, minimum wage at some locations, no respect from higher ups.
Advice to Senior Management
if you care about your employees, which you claim but don't back up, remember their names. i mean, obviously not everyone, but if you've been there for a year, i mean, that's just sad.
Pros
If you work well with others and follow tasks appropriately, you can keep your job for a good long time. This company really has an emphasis in workplace connections and marketablility of employees and services as well as customer experience. It's all business.
Cons
Management can be skeptical. Some are excellent at what they do and their organization skills, knowledge, etc. whereas others lack some tackt when speaking to employees and managing food production, unruly employees, and keeping composure or temperments under control and behave professionally at the same time.
Advice to Senior Management
More training seems to be a necessary aspect for certain management positions. An emphasis on positive yet firm interpersonal relations with employees and leadership as well as more training in effiecient food production practices and customer satisfaction in products presented is a must.
Pros
Different things every day
ok salary but....see below
Cons
long long long hours 70+ per week on salary not good
no new accounts in years so movement isn't an option with in the company
its all about the pennies and not the food care more about food cost than quality of product
Advice to Senior Management
get some new accounts so people can move and not become stale
Pros
Family oriented business with available activities
Cons
Large company, the small man gets lost
Advice to Senior Management
"pay raise" freezes need to go.
Pros
Support from Higher management and ability to grow
Cons
Large company sometimes lose sight of what is happening in field.
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
Gained experience in management during college. Flexible hours with class schedule. Access to free food. Experience with a diverse range of topics (advertising, planning, inventory, HR, etc.)
Cons
Some questionable ethical decisions, food quality was mediocre, there was a fairly large disconnect inbetween upper management and lower level employees. Some people in upper and middle management were incompetant.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employees well and they will almost always return the favor. Just because you have a contract to provide foodservice and a captive market doesn't mean you should skimp on quality.
Pros
Higer Education gives you good opportunities for innovetion- dealing with University clients...building relationships
Cons
Onboarding process for Management and hourly staff could improve
Advice to Senior Management
Better onboarding program
Pros
Good people for the most part...good career growth paths. They invest in good employees. Good health benefits and decent compensation.
Cons
Politics at the VP level. Major upper management turnover.
Pros
- Healthy balance between life and work
- Offers benefits
- Large company name to place on resume
- Charity work in the community
Cons
- No growth opportunities
- Dysfunctional management teams
- Senior Management is out of touch with clients needs
- Worried to much about supplier rebates
Advice to Senior Management
What is more important, rebates to your Supply Chain or a quality product provided to your guests. Stop worrying about what companies or universities you have under your portfolio umbrella and grow the business from your current client list. I understand cutting cost, but when quality is cut that applies to the product provided it is recognized and does not make you better. Lead with quality first, service second, and pricing third.
Pros
If you work for grade schools you get Summers and school vacations off.
Cons
They do not value their people or the children they feed. Everything boils down to bottom dollar and profit margin. Their motto should be "if it's wrong, just do it till you get caught".
Advice to Senior Management
Regional managers just pop in to look at paper work. They never care about sitting down and hearing what the real problems are.
