From a Manager's Experience Its Just an OK Place to Work

    Manager (Current Employee)
    Columbia, MD

ProsGreat Benefits, Casual Culture, Good Pay

ConsEnvironment not too friendly, micro management.

Advice to Senior ManagementSensitivity training to upper management, more of an open door policy. Some experience with Senior management (VP's etc..) not even speaking to you as they walk past you each and every day.

    ridgid and ridiculous

    Panel Relations Specialist (Former Employee)
    Columbia, MD

ProsCompetitive salary. stable financials. They are imbedded within the industry and so they are likely not going away. Causal dress; but actually some people were very inappropiately dressed in my opinion.

Constypical call center mentality but a little worse. lots of hidden adgendas will make you feel like you are being left in the dark. Policies are ridiculous. One lady was refused a restroom break and wet herself. Because the company is "in bed" with so many there are a lot of smoke and mirrors. if you are strong thinker stay away, middle management will strip you until you're a zombie. Be ready to learn all the tricks you will need to implement in order to reach their unrealistic quotes. Every call center rep there uses them and so if you don't you will look like an unproductive loser.

Advice to Senior ManagementHelp departments understand the big picture of the organization. Not just with ARB U but with everything. things are too compartmentalized. Middle management's goals seem to strip strong thinkers until they become zombies. Implement a strong career path to prove to employees that they are part of an industry instead of a department run by fear mongers. Important changes take too long to implement.

    Double Standards rampant

    Developer Specialist (Former Employee)

ProsFreedom to do what you want and how you want. Vast money spent on up to date equipment including laptops and cell phones.

ConsFlex time policies are abused. How can you manage an office with 30 staff and yet run a home business (farm) and call it work from home. When has threatening to fire someone also become an enjoyable experience ?

Competitive pay for the type of work.

    Research Associate (Current Employee)
    Dallas, TX

ProsEasy to get hired on and they offer benefits for part time employee's. Somewhat flexible scheduling. As stated in the title, the hourly pay rate is not bad for the type of work.

ConsFor the most positions, part time work is all that is available to most applicants. This is a typical call center environment where everyone is expendable and its all about call stats. While my tenure at the Dallas TX location I saw more than one rigged "contest" to get employee numbers up, only to find at the end all employees had been disqualified due to various reasons but never notified. Was disappointed to see company started requiring background checks. Full time positions are only available in management rolls.

Advice to Senior ManagementDevise a survey system that allows the research reps to be less scripted. Don't "trick" employees into performance goals without following through. Bring back the open door policy to qualified applicants and drop the background checks.
