    Pros

Intellectually challenging. Consultants are expected to be very quick studies.
Even entry-level consultants have the opportunity to work with clients at the C-level.
Expectation that everyone participates in development.
    Team atmosphere.

    Cons

Sometimes firm tries to insource expertise that it would do better to outsource.
Pipeline can empty abruptly causing forced layoffs.

    Advice to Management

More strategic and coordinated approach to business development. Provide a more creative forum to explore consultants' impressions of deeper client needs.

  2. Niche FS Operations and IT Consultancy. Experience varies.

    I worked at Arc Partners

    Pros

The partners have a good professional network and strong relationships with senior people within Financial Service space. Generally speaking, projects are interesting and can be challenging.
Performance and quality driven. If you can bring in business and / or be billable consistantly, you can move up pretty fast.

    Cons

High turn-over . . . . people don't stick around. They either find better opportunities outside or step on the mine fields. Poor management communication and very little transparency in the staffing process. Little admin support and career development / mentoring. Have increasingly focused on the staff augmentation.
