Not just Catholic dysfunction, but a mafia mentality.

    Teacher (Former Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsThere is so much need in Chicago, and many MEMBERS of the Church do incredible work for the poor. The main benefit of working here would be outstanding peers, and beautiful people to serve.

ConsNever consult the workers. All changes are decided by higher-ups, and outsiders with no input from employees, nor constituents. So busy courting "prestigious" institutions like Notre Dame, that they are willing to destroy the lives of employees, and those they serve - all just to appear more attractive to the white-middle-class-condescending ND version of Catholicism. To reflect the flock of CHICAGO there will need to be some ethnic expression other than "Irish". HIGHLY vindictive, full of gossip, power plays, and backstabbing. Those who work here accept that the pay will be low and the work difficult, but the hierarchy goes out of their way to make life difficult for employees. Financial priorities are skewed to vanity projects, while failing to listen to, nor care for her faithful - much less her needy ones. Toiling here makes one ask themselves why they are scraping by, working to death; when it all goes to benefit the affluent ones.
