Pros
Large deals
Good exposure
Smart people at Archon/GS
Flat organizational structure
Cons
Too many "lifers"
Need an RE equity and/or debt fund
Too dependent on GS funds at times
Advice to Senior Management
Raise a fund
Consider breaking away from GS
Clear out middle management
Pros
i love the people and the atmosphere is great!
Cons
slow pay raises...and slow upward mobility
Advice to Senior Management
keep in touch with your employees!
Pros
Great benefits and flexible work/life balance depending on which group you are in. Central metroplex location. Very casual work environment.
Cons
Too many people and not enough work makes for a long day. Also it appears to take years to get promoted. And I'm not talking about a 2-3 but 7-10 or longer.
Advice to Senior Management
Re-allocate the work load. There are too many people at middle management positions and it is very difficult to find work to stay busy most days.
Pros
Good benefits, Flexible, low turnover
Cons
The information technology just supports the main line of business.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to be more transparent and keep employees more well informed.
Pros
Goldman Sachs affiliate, larger deals
Cons
Very political culture, and cliquish
Advice to Senior Management
Manage
Pros
Good pay, good name, and good people
Cons
Thankless job, not a fun environment, cubicle and often lunch at desk
Advice to Senior Management
Allow more time for employee interaction
Pros
There are many compenent people, as they hire some of the brightest from the top B-Schools. Many use as a starting point to move on to bigger positions.
Cons
In a pretty volitile industry, but when it does well the rewards are good. Some work long hours, while others seem OK working 9-5.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep on treating the employees and customers well. They are the basis for the business. Continue to offer above average benefits, as they seem to be shrinking in other companies.
Pros
Great people and lots responsibility. Good experience with all levels of management. Get to work on very large projects with large dollar amounts.
Cons
Pay was not quite market.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote sooner and increase salary and bonuses more.
