    Ardene Isn't so bad..

    Sales Associate (Current Employee)
    Winnipeg, MB (Canada)

ProsDepending on the store you work in, staff can be awesome

ConsDistrict manager was awful, she wanted there to be no stock in the back room and everything to be on the floor.
Ardene gets so much product that when we were forced to have it on the floor, you couldn't even shop in it, customers said it looked awful, which it did. Stands would fall on customers, and folding clothes would be a joke, the piles would have to be so high they would flop over

Horrible Experience!! Would Not Recommend Working Here At All!!!

    Sales Associate (Former Employee)
    Winnipeg, MB (Canada)

Pros- Some of the people were nice to work with.
    - Employee Discount: 50% off on clothing, 30% off on accessories.

Cons- Management was rude and mean. They would stand around, laughing and joking about their own personal stories, but would get mad at you if you wanted to talk to a coworker about something that was work related.
    - One of my managers was incredibly incompetent. She would tell you to do a task, and even if you though of a more logical way to do it, she would yell at you and tell you to do it her way.
    - VERY physically demanding job with little pay.
    - They force you to wear Ardene flats or boots that have no support whatsoever and can cause serious damage to your feet and legs; but management doesn't care.
    - The store is ridiculously packed with merchandise that I have even had customers complain to me about it being a fire hazard.
    - The store always looks like a mess, especially on weekends, and there is barely any room to move around.
    - You receive about 200 boxes of stock a week that you end up having to sort through yourself. The sales floor is already packed, so we have to keep most of it in the back. The store that I worked at had such a small backroom that we had to use our handicap change room stall to hold merchandise, which because a huge issue when customers come in that actually need to use that change room stall.

Advice to Senior Management- Treat your employees with respect! Also, don't send out so much stock that you don't have room in either the back room or sales floor to store it.
    - Upper management needs to train store managers better on how to actually run a store.

Poor pay, no confidence in employees

    Assistant Manager (Former Employee)

    Pros-Friendly co-workers
    -Good staff discount
    -Cute, although cheap, merchandise

Cons-Terrible pay, even for management positions
-No company confidence in employees - cameras are very obviously in stores to monitor employees, not potential shoplifters
-Area supervisors are essentially given free reign, which can be very good or very bad, depending on the person. There is no way to deal with a problematic supervisor.
-The company is run very simply and managers are given no responsibility. You stock the floor and run the cash and that is it. Don't expect to be asked an opinion on anything.
-They place way too much emphasis on "looking the part" and not enough on actually being competent at your job.

Wasn't the best, wasn't the worst.

    Store Manager (Former Employee)

Prosgood employee discount, fun staff, always something to do.

ConsPay is terrible, Only management gets bonus on quota, You have to take their benefit plan if you're in management,

Advice to Senior ManagementHead office needs to do send out a confident survey to each employee every year as to what needs improvement in the store. Head office expects alot from the store workers yet I can bet 75% of the people in head office have never worked in an Ardene store. The amount of pay for managers & assistants is ridiculous plus head office puts a cap on it not fair. In small towns or where stores are slow they shouldn't require a manager or assistant on weekends. That should be up to the district manager.

Its fun when you actually have a manger who knows what there doing

    Key Holder (Current Employee)
    Regina, SK (Canada)

ProsThe pays is good and its not a difficult job. They like to promote with in the company so there's lots of room for growth

ConsThe stock can get very overwhelming at time. You get shipments every week and if your a big store that could mean 200 boxes to be done in less than a week. Because they like to promote within the company often, the mangers don't know how to run there store or how to speak to there employees appropriately. This makes for a very difficult work environment

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate a better training program or hire more qualified people

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
