    Pros

Work/ life balance, flexibility to WFH, Limited oversight. Mostly quant based research process allows for canned and limited commentary requirements. Once the process is understood, the workflow is repetitive and simple.

    Cons

"Work/life" balance constantly cited - and ultimately used a keep compensation low. If you want to work harder and earn more, that option is not there. Company lacks long term strategic vision as to how their core business is evolving and ownership has an unrealistic view of the co.s market position and ultimate value.

    Advice to Management

IMO, Significant overhaul required at the top. The research business has changed over the past 40 years - strategy needs to reflect that. "Because we've always done it this way" is typically not a sustainable model for future growth.

    Pros

People are honest. kind and helpful from assistants to top management. The company's business is clearly set and everybody has his role well defined within the company. Analysts are extremely prepared and have a detailed knowledge of the industries they cover and also very opened to take time out of their work to teach and train you on the job. The company's president is a masterpiece of professional figure, who loves his company and extremely motivated. I have worked directly with him, with my supervisor and with other analysts to get a thorough view of the company's business and of the market, and for an intern that's extremely important. Working hours are really good, in line with market hours, really intense though and that's a pros since it makes you being concentrated on your work.

    Cons

The company's culture has roots distant in time so you need to adapt to their culture to be part of "the family". Everybody works hard, so that motivates you to do the same. Since the team is made up of senior analysts that covers specific industries, the teamwork is not the main element, but you have the opportunity to share your work with each of them on one-to-one projects and specific assignments.

    Advice to Management

For the little time I spent there, I would encourage the management to expand the business as they have the tools and the opportunity to do that, also growing in number as working people.

    Pros

Independence of analysts, nice group of people

    Cons

Management is lacking skill set to manage, low salary, office conditions are like a sweatshop, burdensome workload, half the company works from home.

    Advice to Management

Decide what you want to be and pursue a long-term strategy. Stop chasing every revenue opportunity in the market. The company does not have the resources to do pursue every dime in the equity research business.

Completely disorganized small family run business. No room for advancement unless you are related or marry in.

    Pros

Predictable but backward looking 'safe' product. Good for trust departments to paper their decisions. Little risk. Good place to start your career but don't get stuck there.

    Cons

No sales support. No access to senior management. No infrastructure. No advancement. Low pay. Shrinking client base. Stay away unless you are desperate or need a starter job.

    Advice to Management

Decide upon the long term goals of the company. Get that new website. Hire a competent sales professional. Put more process in place that links the product to the sales team.

    Pros

Low stress, academic environment. Quality work by analysts. A pleasant group of people.

    Cons

No long term cohesive business plan. No short term cohesive business plan. No support by management, operations, or IT. Reactive as opposed to proactive. Always 'putting out fires'. Lack of active management.

    Advice to Management

Incentivize Improve your business process Communicate

    Pros

Work/ Life balance, flexibility of schedule and location. Company is very opne to finding creative working solutions to meet the needs of the employee.

    Cons

Industry uncertainty. Company tranisitioning and so a defined long term strategy appears to be lacking. Definitely a work in progress.

    Advice to Management

Choose something to be and set long term goals to achieve that strategy. Don't try to be something you are not.
