- recognition
Cons
The cons include the following at Ariba technologies
- Balance between personal and work life.
- company enforced processes at Ariba
- Stress
Advice to Senior Management
consider balance between work and personal life of employees,
Pros
Nothing to say but suggest engineer to rethink before joining
Cons
Master-Slave treatement and there is no respect for engineers at IDC
Advice to Senior Management
respect your engineers they are actually the backbones not the managers
Pros
- Compensation
- technical challenges
- Can't tink of any thing else, It is tough to find any thing else really!
Cons
- Poor management
- IDC management has absolutely no role to play
- Everything is driven by Sunnyvale management
- No planned growth for IDC
- IDC is still no where close to be a strategic partner;
- It's rather a factory of cheap labor
- Too much politics for a company of this size
Advice to Senior Management
- You gotta move fast
- Increase productivity
- Treat your employees based on marit
- Delegate more to IDC leadership
- Be open to suggestions from engineers in IDC; they also have brains.
Pros
Ariba has a wealth of very talented and responsible set of people, people who are very accessible and knowledgeable. The products and solutions are good. People taking that extra effort to make a difference is often the rule, not exception. Competitive salaries compared to the market.
Cons
Too many changes. An aimless organizational structure change always waiting around the corner. Mid-level management is very poor in communication and empowering employees. Many a times genuine issues raised by employees are brushed under the carpet. Sometimes engineers who have years of experience on some area are not allowed to make decisions in that which leads to lot of frustration. Many employees find very little career advancement that results in increasing attrition.
Advice to Senior Management
Unless the employees are empowered and more delegation is put in place things will not improve.
Pros
- Culture encourages career advancement
- Open door policy
- Competitive salary
- Great culture especially in Procurement engineering team
- Knowledgeable folks, many of who are with Ariba for more than 5 years
- Lot of employee benefiting programs
- Strict process followed - very quality focused
- Good training opportunities
Cons
- Like any SaaS company, sometimes you may need to work extra hours to solve customer issues
- Self learning is required to be sustained in this company. Company helps in training but needs initiatives from employees
Advice to Senior Management
I am still with Ariba and am proud to be an Aribian. The recent initiatives from management to communicate & listen to employees are paying off.
Pros
Ariba is committed towards providing a work culture that respects the dignity of every individual and recognize them for their efforts. They are very flexible in they approach and support employees to the best of employees abilities and skills.
To be more crisp and precise: A better place for us and every one aspiring to join a world class Product development company / US MNC.
Techno-Functional aspirants who is looking to have strong technical career progression then Ariba is right place since it’s well equipped with latest frame works, sophisticated design definitions feasible to any platform or environment.
“Ariba (IDC) has always strived towards employee satisfaction. It is but unfortunate that you have encountered such a situation. It’s worth noticing that the company process, policies, management in general has tendency to always encouraged employees to come forward and reach out when ever the situation arises. What an Irony!!! Regret to those who have not availed of the world class sophisticated policies that the company has put forward to safe guard the interest of employees
Cons
Every splendid organization fame glittering in this world will definitely have retaliation from immature, no value carrier professionals to write wrong stuff about the company.
t's an reader choice to take a call whether the cons desribed in the blog is a material or immaterial information.
Advice to Senior Management
To continue Ariba stands as a world class organisation - today, tomorrow and hereafter
Pros
Good for old employee and manager. This is first company where architects and oldies are code reviewer and questions asker
Cons
Please be careful before joining this company. They say fix 5 defects in a week else straight forward say look job outside else they layoff you in 5 min. Just they are taking advantage of recession. They hire by making lots of good words and fire immediately without answering why are they firing. They work on ariba framework and all customised code. Nothing you wil learn. At time of hiring they don't say what they do just they say we work on core java.
Advice to Senior Management
I found misleading management who just care managers and not developers.
Pros
Good pay and benefits. The variety of customers makes everyday a learning opportunity. The work culture is quite relaxed
Cons
Be prepared to work hard, sacrifice your personal life without any rewards. Forget promotions or salary hikes. Be prepared to see processes being rolled out everyday without training and employees expected to follow them. Be prepared to play politics and please your manager to have any chance of advancing in your career
Be prepared to have everything delegated to you from the mangerial level. Also you will see managers relaxing and just attending calls while employees will be slogging their butts off
Advice to Senior Management
Stop treating employees like idiots and managers like geniuses. Such blanket treatment is not going to help you retain people
Pros
it is within the city limits
vacation policies are ok
some of the folks are good to work with and some teams appears to be better than the others
Cons
one will not get anything here if you are not in your manager's favorites
no guidance or effort to retain people
only manager favorites are retained and given more opportunities
I was forced to take up something I did not like to do by threatening that I may be laid off if not taken
manager's favorites are always given the tasks as per their choices or which could get them more recognition
Advice to Senior Management
retain good people instead of mediocre managers
Pros
Great work culture, lots of employee benifits, you get to learn a lot about the technology used, wearing casual clothes to work, respect for employees and a down-to-earth approach of most of the managers
Cons
If you were based in the US (Sunnyvale or Pittsburgh) you grow fast, but at all other locations, growth in almost non existant, Vast difference between managerial practices between Sunnyvale and Pittsburgh. S'vale is more open and P'burgh is up-tight. Some members of the management tend to look down on others. Poor analytical skills by the middle management. Decisions are often hasty and harsh.
Advice to Senior Management
Go back to the Sunnyvale patern of management rather than blindly follow Pittsburg's style
