Pros
A lot to learn, very transparent management
Cons
Some processes are too much to follow
Advice to Senior Management
with strict processes, innovative ideas are suppressed.
Pros
Work life balance
Office located at the center of the city
Good salary and benefits
Cons
Life revolves around BUG FIXING
Tight noose of "processes" around your neck
Few big-bosses control the show. You are just a insignificant worker. Do as I tell you attitude.
No "risky" projects and everything is risky
Technology belongs to Paleolithic era. Good luck finding your next job.
Advice to Senior Management
Please find some interesting work for the poor folks down here.
Please stop judging people based on number of bugs fixed.
Pros
Good Benefits
Decent Salary
Good environment and stable company ,peace of mind is there on future.
Cons
Worst work,only bug fixing and no exposure to any technologies.
ARIBA is simply
A->ALL
R->ROUND
I->INTENSIVE
B->BUG FIXING
A->ACADEMY.
ARIBA:-ALL ROUND INTENSIVE BUG FIXING ACADEMY
India IDC is currently like a GARBAGE BOX FOR ALL JUNK WORK
No confidence on Indian employees in this organisation.
US Designations: Software engineer because they work on good things in the product
India Designations: Consultant engineer as its only support work, kind of donkey work here.
Advice to Senior Management
All good work is in done in USA,Please give India IDC also some decent work.
Pros
Decent salary
Good cab facility
Good Lunch
Good Snacks and beverages.
Cons
Don't be misled by false promises in interview, Its all only Customer support.Even software engineers are also into customer support nothing else.
Mostly working on proprietary xml files only.
No work on Java.Java coding is done very rarely here.
High work pressure.Daily updates are a must here.
High Bureaucracy and politics in this company.
Advice to Senior Management
There should some little development work at-least in India IDC.
Pros
- Work location is in the heart of the city
- Trains you to work in a high pressure environment
- Forget PMBOK, you get to work in a new process framework altogether. Makes it more interesting :)
Cons
- Some senior management folks are maniacs who think they know everything. Scrum planning with them is a pain.
- Policies are thrust down your throat from Sunnyvale with no handover. Sitting in IDC, you are left wondering how to justify the new process changes to engineering teams
- Zero growth, except if you are in HR I suppose. Actual incident: In the last review cycle, HR announced that all promotions are being deferred to the next April cycle. Then a quite promotion happened in the cycle when no promotions are planned for the one of the HR managers to a director.
- Little to no feedback on what to do to get to the next level
- Engineering is the owner for most tasks, but you will be asked questions on why tasks aren't on track (which they will never be since the company believes in operating in a highly resource constrained manner)
Advice to Senior Management
- Hand off some control to IDC. Creating new processes on the fly and throwing it across the seas is not the right thing to do.
- If you want to defer promotions for the whole company, how is it a HR manager gets promoted? Have a uniform policy for everyone, otherwise you are just asking for it.
Pros
Office is well within the city
Good facilities.
Good Opportunity to learn process orientation.
Cons
ITS ONLY TECH SUPPORT HERE EVEN FOR ENGINEERS,DON'T BE MISTAKEN.
ENGINEERS ARE ALWAYS GIVEN TECH SUPPORT AND BUG FIXING ALL THRU THE YEAR.
People who have stayed here for 2-3 years are completely out of touch with all technologies.
Not a place if you are technical person.
Managers are only tracking issues with no technical insight of the product,because of which the product lacks any technical improvement.
Huge process overhead which blocks virtually everything in the company.
Work schedule is very tight
Advice to Senior Management
Time-lines need to be more realistic,stop hiring managers without any technical knowledge at all.
Pros
- Decent work, not very technically challenging though. Everything is based on age old frameworks which are specific to their stack
- Get to learn how to manage work with the absolute minimum resources
- Fantastic process framework, a little too rigid on it though
- Good management events, only on weekends though
- A few fun filled events, again reserved for weekends or after work hours
- Get a good feel for time management after hours that is. 8 hours a day in meetings for all managers, you need to put in that extra effort if you want to even respond to emails
Cons
- Escalations, more escalations and lots more escalations. Half the time, the catalogs will be down, data loads will be failing, and the ops team will be more than happy to call you up anytime during their day (your 2/3 AM) to help resolve it. During their night they setup page filters so that their beauty sleep is not disturbed. And just so you get a good feel for it, they make sure they repeat this cycle every single day of the week. If you are on call for that week, you are rogered.
- Huge amount of bureaucracy to get anything done
- If you want a decent hike or a promotion, put in your papers and suddenly you realize there is a "HR team"
- Can never trust the senior management.
- You are a resource and a very lowly one at that. Obviously, HR has very little say in the process.
- You need to work 14+ hours to stay afloat most times.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to respect folks and recognize them for that they are
Pros
Stable company,Good Salary,Good facilities at office location.Good company to work if you are functional person.If you want to make a career in support and maintenance this is the right place for you.
Cons
It only bug fixing and support all round the year.
Not for technical people as hardly any developer writes code here.Its mostly with customization.
The technology stack is all legacy and completely outdated ,plus you hardly get to any programming here.
Work pressure is also high with lot of micro management and day-day tracking by mangers.
This company has lot of managers who have no clue about any latest technologies or technology stack just meant for tracking bugs and issues.
Advice to Senior Management
India IDC gets only maintenance and support work ,which has to be changed.Deadlines of work need to be relaxed a little further for better work-life balance.
Pros
Interview process very rigorous, they hire smart people
Team and family outings once in a while
People cooperate with each other
Cons
There is no good work at Idc (no idea about US)
They promise wrongly during interviews but the main work is only bug fixing, always.
No free food.
If you work here for 2 years, you become out of date with technology
Advice to Senior Management
Provide good work to Idc. Everyone is frustrated.
Pros
* Good place to learn meta language, UI dev.
* Good parking lot
Cons
* A very bad, non-technical and hence incompetent senior management
* No process, no management.
* A horrible, unethical, unprofessional, toxic work culture where sycophancy is expected from employees and not hard/good work
* JOB means Just Obey Boss. Dont try to bring in your education, qualification and expertise to office.
* As a result of focussing away from work and onto sycophancy, a lot of bad characteristics have cropped up in the org - grapevines, backstabbing, bootlicking.
Advice to Senior Management
No advice. They wouldnt read or wouldnt understand or wouldnt follow.
