Pros
Generally a good place to work. Decent opportunities for advancement, and lots of time off given. Overall it's a good workplace.
Cons
Senior management doesn't really lead by example. There are occasional inequities in compensation that I've noticed. Not much budget allocated for personal growth.
Advice to Senior Management
Work to lead by example. Provide more opportunities for employee personal growth. Work to make compensation equitable across the company.
Pros
ARIBA is an MNC.
It's doing well financially and the pay is acceptable.
You will--very quickly--learn a lot about fixing bugs and defects.
Cons
A toxic, hellish environment where you will encounter the worst kind of inefficiency, bureaucracy, back-stabbing and unethical behavior.
I faced constant workplace harassment by the manager and bootlickers.
Advice to Senior Management
We need to have a dialog with senior executives in the US. The corporate culture, especially in management and HR, cannot ignored.
Pros
Fun, energetic, motivated workforce
Recognition and awards tied directly to performance
Great benefits, time off
Management fully understands work/life balance
Monthly involvement in different charities
Community involvement
Cons
Salaries could be more competitive
Global operations are sometimes inconsistent.
Sales, delivery, and operations are somewhat misaligned in their objectives.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to make more of an effort to interact with employees at all levels. For a smaller company such as Ariba, this could be very feasible and prove to enhance morale. After reading through some of the posts from teams in IDC, it sounds like they could really benefit from 1:1 interactions with our executive team.
Pros
Low key environment and good benefits, lots of vacation time. Over all I like Ariba a lot. Good place to work your way up.
Cons
Work long hard hours, it can be highly demanding at times. Management changes pretty often compared to other companies I've worked for. People switch positions a lot.
Advice to Senior Management
Management could have a better understanding of how demanding the work can be at times. Thats all the advice I have.
Pros
Good technology, financially stable, subscription base is stable
Cons
micro management, very unfriendly, no exposure to external technology
Advice to Senior Management
better treatment of employees
Pros
In the heart of the city
Decent enough package
Cons
1) Work, Work and Work. Its modern day slavery
2) IDC has no serious management people. All the managers are just there to implement what Sunnyvale thinks.
3)Promotions have nothing to do with meritocracy... Its all about being in the directors good book. If you are in good book even p2 level peoples can become managers.
4)Be ready for 12-14 hr days and threatening calls from your manager in the middle of the night.
5) Be ready for hour long scrum meetings. (The manager would sit in the stand up meeting and rest would be standing all the time)
6)The product is old and everything is in house. You would not be learning anything new or marketable skills. If you spend some 2-3 years here, then you are as good as gone in the market.
7)Skeletal work force. So much of attrition and no new joiners. So work is almost doubled per person.
Advice to Senior Management
Understand that there is a deep cultural problem. Weed out those long timers sitting in bench and not growing. Be open to the employees and encourage their career development also.
Pros
market leader and improving strategy re saas
Cons
incompetent, duplicitous direct manager
politics
customer dissatisfaction
Pros
1.Little flexible culture
2.OK business model
Cons
1.A bug fixing company. If you want to fix only defects, you can join this place.
2.Patronizes only veterans who simply find themselves in their comfort zone.
3.All they have is customization. You will hardly write code.
4.IDC does not have any role to play.
5.A place full of politics.
6.HR policies are not people friendly.
7.Developers need to cajole their managers who are close to management.
8.It's only and only about defect & bug fixing.
Advice to Senior Management
IDC management can not do anything about it.They are just sitting on side lines and watching the game.No need for an advice.
Pros
huge upside if the company dumps legacy views, and thoughts that we don't sell software
Cons
12 hour days, every day
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
Market leader in the space, products work and do drive customer value, great people to work with, very well know provider.
Cons
Leadership has either finance or consulting background, compensation light compared to market, revolving door, losing a lot of long time employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Share the wealth, Ariba (Senior leadership) makes a lot annually. Compensation for the individual contributor seems to get smaller and smaller each year, pay peopel and they will stay.
