Before the US corp office was closed, US employees enjoyed a great 401K match and good salaries.

I worked at Aricent full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

If you're lucky to be in growing BU like Cisco you may find yourself growing technically as well. In all other places you will do just what crap mgt has as projects. Some very good folks from Hughes are still there accompanied by lots of rusted folks from that era too.

    Cons

E5/6 technical lot don't believe in managing people which is hurting the bottom like ne as more senior folks reqd to run the show hence low profits. Salaries need big time overhaul but first there is need of shunting out rusted lot who management just carries along as there assistants.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

E2-E4 mid range grades are most productive and E5/6 mgt are merely puppets of authoritative directors. A paradigm shift is required where unproductive lot has to be identified and shunted out as we have faced the brunt of carrying on with rusted fellows for long time.
Get real and introspect ..and then clear the rotting lot and work towards KRA based model where all in Engineering must be technically hands on..and technically hands on ppl should manage juniors.

I have been working at Aricent full-time

    Pros

Only Nalanda Training is good thing in this company

    Cons

    1) No work life balance what so ever. As soon as project starts it will be termed as late and they will put pressure to work late in evenings and every weekend. People are coming for 1 year continuously on every weekend and spending their nights in office,

    2) Before taking a leave you have to think thousand times. They will negotiate and ask to cut down to 1-2 days. If you don't do that they will give you tonnes of work load and tell to finish that and then only you can go.
Whereas on the other hand managers enjoy leaves for weeks and months.

    3) Even if you are ill or injured due to accident they will not hesitate to make you work in that condition also.

    4) Change of project is so frequent that you will never learn anything if you work here for 10 years also. Most of the work is done in age old C language.

    5) They will do everything to delay your promotions/hike. If its your promotion time then they will change your project and make sure you don't get promoted for another 1-2 years.

    6) Rating and appraisal system is totally biased. They will not hesitate to write lies also to justify themselves. If you are a boot licker chances of getting good rating are considerably high.

    7) PIP(Performance Improvement Plan) is totally a bogus thing. They are using it to fire employees from the company as soon as their release goes. In PIP they will give you unreasonable targets which are impossible to meet if you work. for 24 hours also.

    8) Managers are totally useless creatures. They are there only to harsass employees and make their life miserable as much as possible. They will take E2 level people in project and give them work of E3 , E4 and even E5 level. If you did some mistake then they will not leave any chance to exploit it in your review period.

    9) Food in the cafeteria is costly and awful.

    10) Their cab service is highly unreliable, never on time and might not come also after waiting for hours.

    11) No extra-curricular activities. If they are organised also your manager will make sure to load you with work so that you cannot participate.

    12) No effort estimation. If the work is of 10 days you will get 3 days to complete it. If you slog continuously for days and complete it in 5-6 days also you will be told that that activity is delayed and they are very unhappy about your performance and it will affect your future.

    13) Compensation is just average nothing great about it..Very less onsite opportunities.

    14) Company is facing issues in getting new clients and projects so there is always pressure on employees to save their job.

    15) Mostly support work in most of the projects.

    16) No respect for employees and their work. They treat you like laborers.

    17) Low growth opportunities outside because their are very few companies that do this kind of work. You will be trapped if you work for more than 1-2 years.

    18) If you want to work in Java/.Net/OOPS or any other new technology you will be highly disappointed.

    19) HR's are there only for lip service. They are mere puppets in hands of managers and senior managers.
Whatever concerns you tell them they take side of only what managers says.

    20) Long bond period for freshers and similar employee un-friendly policies are being introduced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is working on carrot and stick approach. Needs a whole new perspective.

I worked at Aricent full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

depends what team you land in
if security team then good exposure same for core technologies

    Cons

    no freedom to work
manager will stand on your head to close cases,
if case is closed and low score comes than you are in trouble
PIP will be issued with out even notifying you or formal discussion
30 people were issues PIP last year and chucked out even after performance
food is worst than roadside vendor
    toilets stink and remain dirty
HR is part of management operations only
so anything you report to HR will backfire on your job
shifts will be changed without notifying you
one week you will be called in evening the next in graveyard
    worst company ever

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

no advice just leave an esteemed project like Cisco TAC and sell vegetables instead

I have been working at Aricent for more than a year

    Pros

I did not find even a single good reason for anyone to work here.

    Cons

    - Too much of power is given at the hands of PM and Director.
    - An all round feedback MUST impact PM's & Director's performance rating, so they learn to be courteous towards their subordinates.
    - HR should be given more power so as to restrict the unleashed Managers & Directors, who think of themselves as an owner of Aricent and treat rest of the team as their slaves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Like a constant pressure is maintained on low level employees e.g. SE, SSE and TL to show improvement or they will get fired, same approach should be exercised on PMs and Directors as well.
    - Keep some stake for the actual technical guys, who deliver the project, in providing feedback about PM and Director to the top management. It is a general practice here in Aricent that these people keep on threatening their sub-ordinates when cross-questioned or when they differ in opinions. To be worse, they think it as a child's play to put anyone on a PIP (Performance Improvement Plan) giving unrealistic targets, and then getting him fired, bragging of their stupid authority.
