No pay, no recognition, limited resources and a management team that has not a clue how to treat the employees

Listen to work staff.

Pros

One advantage of working for the government is that there are always opportunties to gain new experience. Other employees are usually willing to share knowledge and one often gets to work on a wide variety of projects. If one is willing to take on additional assignments there are plenty of opportunities for advancement and additional experience. Very good benefits and work life balance.

Cons

One can only go so far. Entry level and midmanagement positions are fairly competitive with other jobs in health care, but once a certain level is reached, compensation is limited. All of the various levels of policies and proceedures can also be frustraiting at times.

Advice to Senior Management

With limited options available for rewarding high performing employees, must find additional ways to make jobs attractive.
