Pros
secure job, lost of sick/vacation leave time
Cons
not the best benefits package but then again they are the same as everywhere else
Pros
Good work/life balance and benefits.
Cons
Tremendous incompetence among management echelon.
Pros
open minded, diversified culture, nice people
Cons
too hot, salary is low, not too many good professors
Advice to Senior Management
good
Pros
Tuition remission and flexible hours
Cons
Limited opportunities for advancement, lack of stability of employment
Pros
You are around people in the same age class as you all of the time and it is a chill environment
Cons
Things come in waves, they are dead some times and booming in others. Dead times are extremely boring, and boom times are stressful.
Advice to Senior Management
Scheduling for breaks was weak, I would work on making sure people know when they can leave for a break.
Pros
nice university, well managed, nice faculty
Cons
high fees, less work opportunity
Advice to Senior Management
try to get more money
Pros
ASU has good environment to work in
Cons
less pay for the student worker
Advice to Senior Management
more pay needed for the student worker
Pros
great work-life balance, lots of paid vacation, flexible schedules, great benefits
Cons
low salary compared to for-profit industry, but could easily deal with that for a good work environment. Very incompetent people running UTO. There has been a recent mass exodus of the good technical staffers. Very few competent people left, and most of those are looking for other work. Soon, the only people left will be liberal arts people who got into tech because they couldn't do anything else, plus a small handful of legacy techs who can't do anything modern. Very sad to see such a great work environment turn so toxic.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to people's qualifications. Look at who's leaving and why. Unfortunately, it's almost too late to salvage anything.
Pros
Good benefits package, good work/life balance, some decent managers/executives depending on the department, college atmosphere is nice, winter weather is great
Cons
prior CIO destroyed just about all that was positive in their IT area, very negative work environment, autocratic management styles abound, no raises, outsourcing, I miss the ASU of 1999
Advice to Senior Management
return to management fundamentals, get rid of condescending management mentality, you've laid off a good portion of your "worker bees" but left an enormous amount of useless bloat in management, reward staff for their efforts
Pros
Good compensation, understanding and cooperative staff. Large campus, better resources.
Cons
A bad apple can make your life miserable, but overall experience was great.
