    Pros

    -Benefits/pension
-Basically can't get fired after putting in 1 year
-HR is more available and responsive than I've encountered anywhere else
    -Work/life balance
    -Main campus is metro accessible

    Cons

-Incompetent people can't get fired after putting in 1 year and therefore bring down everyone else. People get really lazy when they're "tenured."
-Senior management has no idea how badly middle management messes things up.
-Work/life balance may also be a fault. People start late, leave early, take long breaks in addition to long lunches, and abuse the teleworking policy. The number of hours the average employee reports is not even close to what is worked.
-Depending on the department, there's often not enough work to keep people adequately occupied. Overall output is surprisingly low.
-Employees are promoted to management without having a clue how to manage.
-Poor employee training and opportunities for personal improvement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Pay attention to what your inferiors are doing. This includes middle management and regular employees.
-Stop overlooking bullying in the workplace.
-Hold people accountable for their actions.
-Get rid of busywork and have employees work harder at producing deliverables.

    Pros

Flexible, great work life balance. Good benefits. Understanding managers and friendly employees. Decent pay.

    Cons

Getting in touch with Human Resources can be challenging sometimes if you do not work at the Courthouse. It once took me 2 weeks to sort paycheck issues. Emails and phone calls went unanswered for that time period.

    Pros

    Understands work life balance
You must like working in the public sector to work for any local government
The best local government to work for in the DC area.

    Cons

Sometimes the hours are long and you have to like working for the public. It can be stressful at times because resources tend to be overworked. The County tries it's best but it is not as flexible as a private Company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to those in lower level positions.

    Pros

Overall a great place to work with good benefits. Most employees care about helping others and making the community a safe place. For the most part management has an open door policy and listen to employees.

    Cons

There are some small "clicks" within the workplace but as long as you do your job and avoid gossip is ok.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to work on Work/Life balance incentives for employees.
