Former Employee – worked at Army and Air Force Exchange full-time for more than a year
Pros – there is a lot of chance to advance within AAFES and the people working there are generally of the same background.
Cons – A lot of people move which is great when you are trying to move up but aggrivating when you have to get a new supervisor.
Advice to Senior Management – Realize you have to work with the people you have and when you are new they might have a good grasp of what is going on more then you
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Army and Air Force Exchange full-time for more than a year
Pros – Excellent opportunities for advancement IF you have the drive and are mobile. What better way to see the world without having to join the military? Fast paced, rewarding, structured and stable.
Cons – As with most comments regarding companies....pay. With that said, you will probably start out with low pay but hard work, going the extra mile and excelling at what you do, the money will come. They have a great retirement program much like the military which is hard to find in the corporate world.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep your commitments of developing great leaders, awarding your associates and serving the best customers in the world. Continue cleaning up the ‘old school’ mentality and press on with pride. Hiring Tom Shull as CEO was a drastic and fantastic move.

Current Employee – been working at Army and Air Force Exchange part-time for less than a year
Pros – Positive people; positive atmosphere; encouraging staff; fabulous customers! This is a pleasant work environment and the overall staff are exceptional. Teamwork is unsurpassed and the bad seeds get weeded out :) ! A good thing!!! This is a fun place to work with a lot of potential room for advancement. Once you are part time (regular) or full time -- the sky's the limit! The benefits are unsurpassed at that level.
Cons – The pay isn't all it's cracked up to be. Actually it is below state minimum wage to start.
Advice to Senior Management – Raise the pay to keep top quality employees

Former Employee – worked at Army and Air Force Exchange part-time for more than a year
Pros – It gives you a chance to work with the military and provides some stability in hours due to it being affiliated with the government. I loved working there and it was very fantastic!!!!
Cons – I worked every single weekend. it would have been nice to have a rotating schedule because there were some people who always got a weekend day off and it wasn't fair to everyone else in the store

Current Employee – been working at Army and Air Force Exchange full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Work is worthwhile and rewarding. Employment is stable. The company rewards those who make a positive contribution to its success
Cons – No employer is perfect but the pros far outweigh the cons. You will not get rich working for the government but you do make a livable wage.

Current Employee – been working at Army and Air Force Exchange
Pros – Great place to work. Great benefits! Team oriented sales.
Cons – part time employment limited to 30 hours for permanent part time positions.
Advice to Senior Management – The advancement is limited for this category of position without relocation to larger facility. It is hard to attract career oriented personnel with the hours per week limit. Also creates alot of job turnover because personnel need 40 hours per week to maintain their lifestyles unless their spouse has a good job. Their is opportunity to try alot of positons within the facility to find the job you enjoy the most through the job posting system of AAFEs.

Current Employee – been working at Army and Air Force Exchange
Pros – The beast reasons to work at the Army/Airforce Exchange are: they go where you go (and your spouse), the other employees share the same culture you do, and you get a great sense of helping your comunity I would highly recomend anyone who is married to a service member and wants to stay active and be a part of the Army community to seek out a job at an Army/Airforce Exchange. Entering and leaving the job is extreamly easy due to the high understanding by managment of the military life. More stable or permenit residence can find job promotions easily.
Cons – Some of the downsides of working at the Army/Airforce Exchange are: the people and the places.
Advice to Senior Management – Management, be more polite.
