I have been working at Army and Air Force Exchange part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great staff. Dedicated to the military. Decent pay for retail & good benefits for even part timers.

    Cons

Starting get on the "hawk the store credit card" band wagon. This policy is what is killing morale & performance at Cabela's. Becomes store priority and causes higher turn over rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it simple. Don't get caught up in the "get rich quick scheme" of the Milstar card. Focus on quality employees.

    Pros

Job security, mobility (to other states and countries) and the ability to move up in the company are excellent reasons to work for Aafes.

    Cons

Trainers could be more friendly and considerate to new hires; Pay was not very high.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time in training personnel to be service-oriented, to smile at customers, always greet them and ask how we can help them. Ensure that the sales counter is always manned.

    Pros

Great management, great co-workers, never bored

    Cons

Schedule wasn't set in stone, always worked different days and hours

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is a little bit unprofessional, very hypocritical. They tell you that you can't do something which is in the policy but they do it all the time like wearing sweatpants and flip flops.

I have been working at Army and Air Force Exchange full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great people, serving the military community, opportunities for promotion, on the job training, career development, tons of internal opportunities for promotion. Paid federal holidays, daytime hours are great (7:30-4:30pm). I worked with mostly internal employees, and they were all great people working hard for our military.

    Cons

Pay could be higher, leadership is not as transparent as they should be, military spouses can be difficult to deal with at times.
