Former Employee – worked at Array BioPharma
Pros – Working at Array BioPharma is a great opportunity to live in Colorado and experience all the outdoor activities that the state has to offer. In regard to the science and research direction at Array, the science is solid, and there are numerous excellent scientists. Scientists get to experience not only involvement in their project, but with all aspects of drug discovery. The scientists alone are the main reason for Array being in the position they are today of a recognized leader in drug discovery. Pretty much everybody at Array has an open door policy from the bottom to the top of the company.
Cons – There is little chance for upward mobility at Array BioPharma. The company is very Ph.D.-heavy, so there is little opportunity to obtain managerial experience which is an important part of career development. Management does not recognize positive contributions from employees enough. The people that get the positive feedback and rewards are not necessarily the best or most capable, but those that 'make noise' at meetings. Array's business development group has missed several opportunities to bring in millions of dollars in revenue through poor business negotiations. Another drawback for employees at Array is that in the unfortunate event of layoffs, there is no other equivalent company in the immediate area for which to pursue employment.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire a competent business development group.

Pros – If you are a bioteh scientist focuse on drug development and just getting started or want to work in the scientific biotech community in Colorado, probably a good place to learn how one company approaches the process. The drug development engine is very cool. Company is very good at discovering drugs, but probably won't get far past Phase I or early Phase II in the clinic.
Cons – Management team is very entrenched, big egos without the track record (nobody has a track record moving a biotech company from a drug developer into a company that can manage through the clinic to commerical markets), they're burning a lot of cash and don't have a lot of financial discipline - Just look at $$ going out for exec comp. Last two CMO's have been really short tenure, shows a problem within that management group - "My way or the highway"?
Advice to Senior Management – Tighten up the comp, align it with results, take a dose of humility and lose the insular "boy's club" mentality. Probably would help to figure out what's going on that you can't keep a CMO. There's got to be a personality problem going on there from the current management team.

Former Employee – worked at Array BioPharma
Pros – Lots of empty offices and cubes so you might get one of your own. Great location in Boulder Colorado if you can afford to live there.
Cons – Poor leadership and wasteful spending. Executive and much of management has no proven track record but still maintains a know it all attitude internally and with partners. Company changes the "priority" program nearly monthly and has little data to show for the millions of dollars spent. Employees are beaten down during a panel review process which everybody loathes attending. Promotions are awarded based upon tenure or internal associations as opposed to skill sets, contributions or achievements. Most of the overworked employees received a 2% or less increase despite big compensation and expensive dinners and travel for the execs in 2010.
Advice to Senior Management – Board of Directors: Scrap the executive team or continue to watch opportunities and assets go down the drain.

Former Employee – worked at Array BioPharma
Pros – Small company, dynamic environment. High potential to learn. Most of the employees at Array BioPharma are top-notch, and are its greatest asset. Colorado location.
Cons – Atmosphere is too casual. Business Development lacks experience in terms of when to maximize the value of selling promising compounds in the pipeline.
Advice to Senior Management – Bolster business development side of business; it is okay to sell a compound for less than you think it is worth (having some $$ is better than nothing at all). Provide more positive feedback to employees when appropriate.
