I have been working at Arrow Electronics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Process oriented, well organized company, providing career growth opportunities. Everyone I worked with has been friendly and collaborative, not too much politics involved. If you have the ambition to press forward and take on more projects even if they fall out of your JD, more power to you!

    Cons

Depending on the team, hours can get crazy, work-life balance isnt exactly ideal. Again, there are certain teams that work very well together and the workload is spread. Within certain departments, there are cycles when weekends may need to be sacrificed in order for operations to continue steadily.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Can't think of anything to say

    Cons

Advancement opportuntiies were slim. Positions were being relocated out of NY to CO.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Once the current CEO was appointed, he never once stepped foot in the Melville NY office. We all knew our fate was sealed.

    I worked at Arrow Electronics

    Pros

Team work - some really good team members who boost your confidence
    Work place is hygienic

    Cons

Work Environment - is not suitable for professional growth, technology wise it does not keep up with the trend in the sense after a point of time there is nothing new to learn and grow.
Management - is horrible in the sense there is a ladder hierarchy and people on the top level have no idea about the bottom level.
Management is old - lots of people in their mid 50's - 60's, they dont accept innovative ideas or solutions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management need to hire new and young talent in the industry, otherwise its going to be difficult for the company to keep up with the competition.
Especially the IT management needs a complete renovation.

    Pros

Enjoyed the work, everyone is helpful and work is meaingful. Management provides feedback and is supportive. Great sense of pride in company.

    Cons

worked alone, not much group interaction. Very large company feel. Also not a lot of afterwork employee interaction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is a great place, and a place I would recommend to start a career. I believe there are many opportunities to grow within this company.

    I worked at Arrow Electronics

    Pros

Great pay and flexible working hours, sabbatical plan, although many people got layoff after sabbatical. Many mid-senior managers are great to work with, however, senior executives changes the direction, which could hurt the company a lot. Hopefully, Arrow can correct itself.

    Cons

Recently more layoffs. Management shifted more to satisfy Wall Street instead of customer. CEO has a target of the stock price instead of customer service level, which is ridiculous. bluntly reduce inventory to improve inventory turns will drive customer away, finally will kill the business. It was a solid company, but have a very dim future since Wall street not only killi itself, but also the great company such as Arrow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put your customer and employee first instead of the greedy wall street.

Arrow -- A Boring Company in an Exciting Industry

    I worked at Arrow Electronics

    Pros

Arrow is a fantastic place to gain exposure to some great client companies. Anyone who is doing anything with embedded electronics will typically have some amount of business with Arrow. Likewise, you'll get broad (albeit shallow) exposure to supplier technologies.

    Cons

The cyclical nature of the world semi-conductor market; geographic shift in point of sale of electronics to Asia Pac; lackluster in-house talent. For senior managers, Arrow can be a decent place to work. Clearly, however, there are two segments of workers at arrow. Morale is typically low, as Arrow can't rally around it's own innovation or technologies. Arrow simply sells the innovation of others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow top achievers the opportunity to earn more money. Flush out non-performers. Reduce middle management.
