A wonderful company making a true difference in the world

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsArtez is a progressive and innovative fundraising company where employees are valued, clients are well supported, and there's clearly defined strategy & mission. If you are determined, focused, and take initiative & pride in your work, then there's no restriction on your growth or professional development. Artez listens to it's employees and clients, which is lost artful these days. As a private company, they are not slaves to Wall Street or the shareholders. Unlike the competition, this allows Artez to focus and respond swiftly to its users, clients, partners, and the nonprofit market. Employees are skilled, happy and motivated, there's a healthy work & home balance, compensation is fair, and the company is growing and expanding internationally. Client retention is healthy, feedback is positive, and management is self-aware and engaged. The work is challenging, stimulating, we are making a positive change in the world, and this all makes for a productive and satisfactory holistic experience.

ConsSome key staff (not all, but some) are younger or inexperienced, so they may lack the skill set or knowledge to execute their jobs efficiently. Marketing/Advertising budget is relatively small compared to competition. Took some time to evolve employees' mindset from being a development shop / pro services company into a Product company. Could benefit from more seasoned resources in product web development.

A lot of potential, but could use stronger management to assist in execution

    (Former Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

Pros- Possible to get great work experience
    - Fairly independent work
    - Given the opportunity to be a product/knowledge expert
    - Compensation (for my role) was adequate
    - Friendly staff (some great people)
    - Beautiful office/location
    - Strong software development team

Cons- Constant change of directions made any real traction with any one task difficult
    - Internal politics often hinder progress
    - A lot of energy spent fighting fires within the product rather than enhancing the product
    - Tendency to hire under qualified cheaper staff
    - A large number of directors for a company of its size

Advice to Senior ManagementKnow and hold onto your assets. Management structure, understanding the business and consistency is important to help staff achieve success.

Fantastic culture, supportive environment, not the best communication internally

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

Pros- Feel like you're part of a family
    - Continuous support from your peers and upper management
    - Always willing to listen to what you have to say

Cons- Project management is somewhat disorganized
    - Not enough pre-planning
    - Not enough post-analysis of successes or failures
    - Ad hoc management style can lead to frustration as communication breaks down and projects are unclear

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure your employees know they're appreciated; reciprocate the good and make them aware of the bad; AND structure doesn't have to be a bad thing.
