I have been working at Arthrex full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Med center on campus (means mostly free healthcare), free lunch 4 days a week, company values loyalty and years of service.

    Cons

Because the company favors loyalty, people get promoted just because they've been with the company for awhile, not because they're talented or have the skills necessary to do the job. Pay is ridiculously low for the area and the amount of work.

I have been working at Arthrex full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Most employees enjoy the daily lunch, provided by the company's onsite culinary staff. Additionally, the company pays out an annual bonus, which is an added incentive to retain employment.

They hire family members, so employees who have husbands, wives, cousins, siblings at the office can enjoy in family meals while at work. Nepotism thrives at Arthrex.

Employees can work normal hours, without much extra time put in. The stress levels are minimal, especially when the managers are out playing golf on their afternoon outings.

    Cons

Employees hired on own accord (not brought in by someone already employed there) have a very hard time trying to advance and find growth opportunities at Arthrex. Advancement is based on "who you know" and if you are a part of the "in crowd." Existing employees are all but ignored, not given proper training or opportunities to learn. The senior management team is engrossed in their own selfish goals and could care less about the other areas of the organization. There is absolutely no communication across the departments - most are left to work in a "one day at a time" mentality.

The company does make an effort to communicate the fundraising efforts and external trade-shows, medical education events in "employee newsletters." If the company placed as much effort on the internal operations, as they do on their external efforts, it may help to minimize the ever-increasing frustration levels of the current employees.

This company uses the "band-aid" approach to fix its issues, rather than take corrective measures to properly train people. Then, they hire more people to add to the current mess. This creates the "blind leading the blind" mentality. So, it is the "snowball effect" at Arthrex.

A lack of organization weakens the collaborative effort needed to have an efficient employee development plan. The result is a company that is unable to maintain essential employee job skills. There is also an inability to upgrade the staff's skill set, which degrades the ability of the company to stay competitive in the marketplace.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advise to the President and Owner - look around the offices and departments and push aside the "piranha-like" managers who are all trying to step on others to show you how great THEY are. Focus on building morale within the workers of the organization - the ones who actually "do" the jobs that are essential to Arthrex's end product to the physicians and patients.

I have been working at Arthrex full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The office environment is comfortable and the grounds are nice. Free lunch is ok but nothing like it used to be. Benefits are good - free health clinic, tuition paid, gym membership, charitable contributions, employee picnics and events, and more.

    Cons

Practically impossible to move up. Nearly all jobs are filled with outside people unless you are drinking or fishing buddy with a manager. Next to no women managers. They will pay for college but most people never get anywhere at Arthrex with their new degrees. Its a good place for about five years but don't buy a house here because there is no other comp employer in Naples. No interest in employee professional growth. People get into very narrow jobs and become robots.

    Pros

Strong leadership, great product portfolio, excellent benefits, constant innovation, promotional opportunities.

    Cons

Like any high growth company there will be challenges. With the increased scale of the corporation this gets more complicated. Arthrex has strong leadership and has integrated multiple business units very successfully.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Profit sharing or stock. Allowing employee's to share in the growth

    I worked at Arthrex

    Pros

If you sell Sports Medicine, Arthrex is great and has the best products.

    Cons

Arthrex has no idea how to sell Arthroplasty products and doesn't want to devote the time and effort into getting behind the sales force to make it happen. They hold reps accountable for too many product lines but only want sports sales.

They are a good company. Family feel. Very dynamic and the growth is tremendous. Sky is the limit there. Very stable industry. Great benefits.

    Cons

Tenured management has a hard time going from small business to large corporation. Salaries are not as competitive as I would have thought for a company this size.
