    Pros

Free coffee and generally the staff is friendly. Systems pretty good from an administration standpoint..

    Cons

Large company that has grown by many small acquisitions that are not managed as a collective organization. Little chance to succeed against the large international brokers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Nothing. They wouldn't listen anyway.

    Pros

Good Benefits, vacation, and health insurance discounts

    Cons

Promotion from within is there, but they will not pay you what you deserve. It is frustrating to watch someone from outside the company get hired and do the same job, and get paid more. They seem to only care about the bottom line, and don't put their neck on the line to keep the good employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would be nice to see more promotion from within, and pay to match. CSR's would stop jumping ship, if AJG could price match other agencies who are willing to pay for what they get.

    Pros

I enjoyed working with talented, hardworking, loyal colleagues dedicated to fulfill Client needs with or without help from Gallagher.

    Cons

Stagnant growth. The need for an advanced degree or knowing the right middle to upper manager for advancement above low level jobs is obvious. Lack of appreciation for hard work employees render by upper management who require mid-level and low-level management to provide incentives to employees at personal expense. Record growth in profitability yields no reward to dedicated employees who sacrificed during lean years. Blatant nepotism, poor almost dangerously low morale and frequent unsuccessful implementation of software and procedures cripple the ability to place business properly and breed resentment amongst employees towards upper management. Mandatory use of Gallagher approved intermediaries improves Gallagher's bottom line at the expense of it's customers. Career Launch and Interns are often Silver Spoon Individuals who are fast tracked into Career Positions often without basic insurance knowledge or needed people skills. Usage of India Service Center to replace American Workers leaves many in constant fear of lay-off. Also, instruction to avoid making the India Service Center known makes this division all the more worrisome for employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Read the Gallagher Way and implement it again. You are advertising that Gallagher lives by it but they do not. The dollar is obviously the most important. Shareholders are your true customer now. You are running good, hard working people out en masse. Why??????

    Pros

Lots are technology to help you do your job. Lots of older employees to learn from. Great place to learn and develop skills and experience.

    Cons

Too demanding. Over worked and under paid. Company only wants to make as much money as possible for their shareholders. Focused on developing India-based Service Center. Pulling away from a personal relationship and trying to commoditize/standardize all processes. Has become just a jumping board for upcoming, developing talent to find jobs elsewhere in the industry. Hard to take a "Vacation" and not worry about your desk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Throw a bone to the worker ants. Realize keeping the pedal to the metal 24/7 gets old real fast.

    Pros

    Pay was not too bad.

    Cons

Work pressure was high, job satisfaction non existent. No clear career path. Management was getting harder to work for every day and they made up things about you just to justify getting rid of you. You were under constant surveillance so they could ding you on every little thing. Things were changing every day so you made many mistakes trying to adapt day to day. You were ridiculed for others work delays, they could be in a division half way around the world but because your work was dependent on them getting their jobs done you were at fault for not getting your work done. Some coworkers were literally sent back to their desk crying under the abusive pressure. Everyone was afraid to take anytime off.

    Pros

In the years past there were many pros to working for this company with many long time employees.
If you are in your twenties and want to work for "below standard industrial " wages while learning the workers' compensation business then this is what you are looking for. Learn as fast as you can and
    move up.

    Cons

Unattainable expectations and caseload is not manageable.
Middle management are completely useless because they are so stressed and overworked from micro-managing, they have lost all touch with their teams.
The New Gallager Way is: Quantity over Quality !

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clients should not be sold a service that cannot be delivered.

I dare any member of upper management, Sr. vice-president, Asst Vice-presidents, Account managers down to office managers to do my job as a CSR for one month and see if you can do my job and not make a few mistakes. I would love to see your reaction when your lively hood is threatened because even you can't deliver what you demand of your employees, maybe then you will realize that the problem isn't because of the worker bees but is directly related to your "new compliance program" , because it is more important to be compliant than to actually take care of our customers

    Pros

As an intern, you are able to experience the daily routines of the Producers and learn the basics of the commercial insurance industry. The employees at the office you intern take care of you as much as possible and the pay is very competitive in terms of Internships. Meet other interns from around the country.

    Cons

Most of the Producers do not have enough time to spend with the Interns on a daily basis, so you are stuck with "busy work". People outside your immediate office are not the greatest. It is a difficult business to be successful in.

    Pros

I have worked at the company for more than 5 years now and there is a lot of opportunity for advancement and career growth. Young talent are fastracked through the EDGE program with your peers. Benefits are decent compared to other competitors. My direct management is encouraging and gets the whole work-life balance deal. If you work hard and do what's right, you'll be given opportunities to move up within the company.

    Cons

Only 10 vacation days and 3 floating days to start. Needs to be 15 +3 but that's something you could negotiate if you really wanted.

Office culture is a little stale at times and it's a full time desk job for me. Pay was a little on the low side with competitors.

One big turn off is the company pumps itself up all the time and it's a bunch of hullabaloo if you ask me. Yes, it's a growing and diverse company but they make a big deal about yearly growth and it's really externally through acquisitions and not organic.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it a fun place to work. Offices that don't see. Liens every day should be casual. Celebrate birthdays and events as a group. Provide small rewards for extra work...create a fun incentive program for your people ($50 gift card for top producers each month, etc.)

    Pros

    Decent benefits, coworkers are great

    Cons

Management is horrible. Training is horrible. I have never been to a company where over half of the staff (including the manager) is looking to get out. This company is a revolving door. There is a reason why the same positions are open year after year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management should pay attention to the high turnover in the accounting/finance department and make some changes to their middle management. The reputation as an employer is very bad, and spreading like wildfire.
