Great in the beginning but internal politics and new management put a damper on my experience.

I have been working at Aruba Networks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people, great product and good benefits .

    Cons

Long hours and a lazy upper management team that expects you to do the work of two

    Advice to Management

Hire in key areas, provide cross training and a clear path for advancement within the organization.

I have been working at Aruba Networks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very smart group of people who work hard. Mobile space is growing, and Aruba is the leading player from a technology perspective (Cisco being the behemoth). The culture is fast-paced and invigorating. Employees think of themselves as Arubans and believe in the products and company trajectory.

    Cons

Hours can be long, and upper management will be challenged with scaling the company to $1B, though it's certainly feasible. Recent restructuring may slow advancement in the near term.

    Advice to Management

Ensure that the support organizations (for sales, engineering) are robust enough to support company growth. Beef up communication of key initiatives to front lines, and tie strategic company goals to monthly goals in lower levels of management.

I have been working at Aruba Networks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Collaborative work environment working with top notch engineers. Commitment to quality. Good work-life balance. Commitment to the best technology for the job.

    Cons

New management changes are starting to erode the culture. Work-life balance is being tilted away from balance. A great deal of uncertainty about the future of products and technology. The new management seems determined to chase the best engineers out.

    Advice to Management

Leave well enough alone, but make sure you adequately staff key areas. People start to make serious mistakes when they are doing the work of three or four people.

I have been working at Aruba Networks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Awesome products and feature set. Exciting to get on board with the solutions and sell it. Very competitive compensation package Overall, good brand awareness in the market

    Cons

Micromanagement like I've never seen Treat sales veterans like grade schoolers Lack of understanding and patience for large account management and development - sales management is all about selling more widgets vs selling solutions (very used car salesman like) Sales management is almost exclusively done by SFDC and expense reports - complete disregard of feedback or strategy planning from the field No feeling of team or interest in our lives as people (just the numbers) - after almost 2yrs, my manager still pronounces my name incorrectly

    Advice to Management

Develop a 360 system, or some other way for the front line employees to provide honest feedback on management.

    Pros

You meet some great people working here. Being here, you definitely have a lot of opportunities to work on high visibility projects for your career. As an entry level analyst, you have the opportunity to work with VPs and high level directors that you wouldn't get at a bigger company.

    Cons

    - High turnover rate, employees constantly coming in and out of the company - No 401k matching - Old systems - Feels like losing small company mentality, all the fun events seem to be disappearing since everyone is so busy - Work/Life balance, manager level expected to be in the office 10-11 hours a day, and be on call - Unlimited PTO, sounds great on paper, but when you do go on vacation or take a day off, you are expected to bring your laptop

    Advice to Management

    - Cross train employees, this would be great if a team member decides to take a day off - Invest in new systems, seems like the solution for problems at this company is to hire a headcount rather than invest in efficient systems

I worked at Aruba Networks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Reasonable compensation. Lots of smart people to work with, although they all seem to be heading for the door these days.

    Cons

Huge problems with management and their "planning" process. Basically, they can't agree on anything, keep changing directions, budgets, and generally sowing organizational chaos. Communication is very poor. Older management has been at the company for too long, and lack the perspective that comes from working more than one place at a high level. Newer management is all from very large companies and engaging in empire building. Recently announced record earnings, celebrated by laying off employees to "optimize". So as others have pointed out, very little job security at all.

    Advice to Management

Pick a plan. Fund your plan. Measure your progress. Repeat.

    Pros

Cutting edge mobility technology, smart people supporting sales efforts.

    Cons

Compensation for field changing as company focuses more on Wall Street.

    Advice to Management

Provide opportunities for professional career advancement to all employees and stay ahead of the industry in terms of salary/total compensation

    Pros

Market leader in wireless networking, stable company (no regular layoff announcements) so that people can focus on work.

    Cons

New engineering management is from a BIG company and they are changing the BsC (biggest small company) culture. The management is biased, most benefits go to select few, no room for growth just based on good work.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on people
