I worked at Arvind Mills full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Rechristened as "Arvind Limited" in 2007
    -No/manageable work pressure
-If u r professionally qualified/recruited from campus, will easily get greater responsibility, international exposure (if in marketing) in least time
    -Very simple organisational structure
-Wold famous textile conglomerate and publicly listed company in India

    Cons

    - Worst, unprofessional & underqualified HR team, resulting to all the subsequent HR issues that any employee (esp professionals) or an organisation may face, occurs
    - Poor salaries
    - Top management doesn't (at all) give any weightage to Human resource, OH&S, Environment related issues & hence, there is no one in top management to represent any of the said functions
    - There are no clear distinction between corporate functions and production/operation, both coexist with confused accountability
    - Only CA's may get better/comfortable roles, responsibilities & say in the organisation
    - Competencies of most of the leaders/Heads are doubtful, resulting to bitter organisational politics
    - Six day working, even for corporate functions though there is no such requirement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Suggest to do following on urgent basis:
    - Start giving weightage to HR function; review the profile, performance fact sheet of existing HR team (including the so call HR advisers) very carefully, remove all the bunch of incompetents, without any further delay
    - Hire young, bright minds (esp for HR) only from top B schools, having work experience in top MNCs with proven track record
    - Revise organisational Hierarchy and deploy it strictly
    - Consider engaging reputed advisories/agencies (like McKinsey, E&Y, PwC, CII etc) rather then any self proclaimed/home groomed advisers for any new proj or initiatives
