    Pros

Work life balance and great staff.

    Cons

Low salaries compared to other non profits. Raises are within a small percentage range where hard work doesn't provide any additional monetary reward. Slack off and you get just as much as your hardworking colleague.

    Pros

Decent benefits to include insurance, retirement with decent matching

    Cons

Staff is not treated so hot and contrary to what their hr department promotes.

    Advice to Management

really listen to your worker bees.

    Pros

Low pressure environment, supportive of professional development, great 403b retirement plan offerings

    Cons

Not market competitive with salaries, no clear bonus structure based upon performance, an organization with 160+ year history - slow to change

    Advice to Management

Let go of staff that is let performing and/or toxic, pay high performing staff market value regardless of what it does to the average raise percentage

    I worked at Asce

    Pros

Great place for work life balance.

    Cons

    Too many negative thinking colleagues

    Advice to Management

Test the results through an internal job survey. Get rid of the negative, non innovative individuals.

    Pros

    - Many great co-workers - Members are passionate individuals - Excellent benefits

    Cons

    - Pay is very low for the market - Some not-so-great co-workers - Lack of upward mobility - Silos - Raises and bonus program leave much to be desired. Raises and bonuses are company-wide. The laziest workers usually get the raise raise/bonus as the hardest workers.

    Advice to Management

    - Give raises based on performance - Give market-based raises with promotion - Break down the silos

  7. Great! ... If you don't need upward mobility or job growth

    Pros

    - flexible schedule - nice coworkers - good benefits and members - easy commute from the fairfax area - good work/ life balance - reasonable job expectations

    Cons

    - lower than average pay - marginal pay increases and inconsistent bonuses - political leadership - low opportunities for professional growth - favoritism - it is more of a job than a career, which isn't necessarily a con, but could quickly become one if you are looking for a career path.

    Advice to Management

It would be nice for the CEO to make an appearance at all-hands meetings.

    Pros

Lots of autonomy; nice non-profit attitude; great co-workers; really nice facilities; totally great members and volunteers to work with in your daily activities

    Cons

If you're looking for somewhere to work that's an easy commute from DC or from Maryland, this probably isn't a good place to be as the traffic is tough

    Pros

90% tuition reimbursement, health/dental/vision package is awesome, HR department is very involved with activities for employees to participate in (not so much actually helping employees with HR related problems. They are there to listen, not resolve your issues).

    Cons

Management and the pay is lower 25% of the area's average pay scale.

    Advice to Management

    Stop acting elitist.
