I have been working at Ascend Clinical (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice Work environment. Good benefits. Manager is very nice. He is not doing micro management. Very helpful and understanding. Nice place to work.

    Cons

    There is a dress code.

I have been working at Ascend Clinical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, including matching 401 K contributions, vision and dental coverage. They tend to hire very nice people.

    Cons

No bonuses (which is understandable, their business is shrinking). There is a lot of upper and middle management turnover. Some redundancy and lack of clear protocols makes it very confusing. Management tends to ignore employees. Changes are implemented without clear communication across departments. The company has wasted time and money in fruitless ventures and ideas. They are very upfront about the long hours and unusual schedule, but some people might find it difficult to fulfill their expectations.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and your clients. Do not make make protocol changes without first getting their input and understanding consequences for patients and clients.

I worked at Ascend Clinical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was able to learn a lot of various technologies that moved my career quickly.

    Cons

Some of the employees are incredibly hard to work with and pull rank to do things that are incredibly destructive to the company.

I worked at Ascend Clinical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best thing would be the compensation and benefits. Management also provided snacks and meals on occasion. The office itself was nice.

    Cons

The company culture of Ascend is very demoralizing. The training and ongoing training is extremely poor, considering the amount of knowledge needed to perform the job correctly. Management is very demanding and highly critical of employees. I also found management frequently lies and cannot be trusted. There is a lot of unethical business practices happening that could be potentially bad for employees. All in all a very depressing and unhappy work environment where you constantly have to watch your back and worry.

    Advice to Management

Management really needs to invest in a proper training program for new employees. Make an effort to change the company culture to one that is positive. Stop allowing toxic employees (Jerks) the freedom to rein!

I worked at Ascend Clinical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The objective of the position to help healthcare professionals with tests for patients with dialysis. Easy commute. Shift Hours changeable

    Cons

My experience as an employee as this company was very negative . The HR team and Client Services management were very unprofessional. They seem to encourage employees to rat against each other. They ask you , almost pressure you, to work long hours. I heard some very unprofessional things about the CEO as well.

    Advice to Management

Work on team building and training of the managers. I think your company needs a lot of work.

I worked at Ascend Clinical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Position and pay were great. When I started in CS it was great, then things changed.

    Cons

Management was inexperienced, had no college degree and was not able or willing to help our great team. Previous management team was awesome, helpful, very knowledge and professional. High turnover in a dialysis position that takes weeks to learn really hurts the dedicated team.

    Advice to Management

Listen to everyone, make positive changes and stop thinking you know it all.

I worked at Ascend Clinical full-time

    Pros

401K, other workers; compensation in line with others in industry.

    Cons

Everything else; management has become a unorganized mess. Employees have become "cattle" with almost no value to management.

    Advice to Management

Realize you are making a name for the company by poor decisions in your market.

I worked at Ascend Clinical full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Supportive management, willing to listen to new ideas. Instant recognition for a job well done. Everyone in the lab working as a team to get the job done despite high volume and at times long hours.

    Cons

You will have to accept that some days will be longer than others and overtime is mandatory. But the goal is to provide superior service to our clients who are on dialysis which makes it worthwhile.

    Advice to Management

At times a rush to make decisions without a clearly defined objective, but in business I suppose you have to go with what you know at the time. But to quote Coach John Wooden "be quick but don't hurry". You're overall results will be much better.

I have been working at Ascend Clinical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, like 401k. Great smart and talented co-workers. Company is lucky to have such talent, except Management does not realize it.

    Cons

Feels like a white collar sweat shop specially in software applications. Upper Management seems to see their reports like peons, and 4th class citizens that are there to be worked until they drop and that the worker should feel lucky just to be able to work there. Upper Management seems suspicious of the worker bees and don't trust their expertise. Upper Management will use threats to try to motivate their workers. They believe if the worker is scared of losing their job they will work harder. Of course this is not true, in these modern times.

    Advice to Management

Need to learn about the IT culture and what motivates the workforce specially in the Silicon Valley. Workers, specially in IT are there looking to be challenged on interesting projects they are looking to learn and thrive.

I worked at Ascend Clinical full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are good medical and dental benefits

    Cons

It seem like management was very unorganized and unethical. It was an awful experience. Have you ever been in a situation where managers judge their employees. There have been many company changes that were not relayed to the employees either.

    Advice to Management

Need HR intervention with professional management.
