I have been working at Ascension Health full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Employees are truly focused and dedicated to service of the poor and patient safety/satisfaction/experience!

    Cons

Ascension ministries focus on underserved areas, so hospitals are often not found in as "glamorous" locations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great leadership and management, very dedicated. Work-Life balance could be a concern, they often work long hours to meet deadlines and drive projects through.

I have been working at Ascension Health full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay - you won't get rich working here but can live comfortable.
Generous benefits including a lot of PTO (paid time off).
    Great people to work with.
    Management doesn't micro manage.

    Cons

The only real con is lack of advancement opportunities. Internal employees are often not considered when there is an opening (which there are few). Openings are filled by external, contractors or interns.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on promoting within, training employees who would like to work in other areas. Most people aren't interested in being stuck doing one job. Be loyal to employees who are loyal to Ascension.

    I worked at Ascension Health

    Pros

This healthcare provider promotes a Christian culture, empowering employees and consultants to take initiative.

    Cons

Technology is antiquated, and IT support is decentralized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The project sponsors need to delegate and trust their resources to deliver.

I have been working at Ascension Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

They have an excellent new hire program, and the benefits are comparable to other similar facilities in the surrounding area.

    Cons

No longer an employee friendly workplace since Ascension Health took over, their all about the $$$$$..This use to be an awesome place to work for, not so anymore. So many unhappy employees that are there only because they have to have a job. I wish the Nuns would come back. They made us feel like we were appreciated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers should treat ALL employees the same, which is not the case in many instances. Every person that is in an management position should have an management degree, which again, is not the case. Thus the low HCAHPS scores. Please bring the Sisters back.

I have been working at Ascension Health

    Pros

Co workers work well as a team. Paid time off is better than most companies. Benefits are a bit better than most companies, and it will be reiterated at every chance in lieu of explanation of no raises in years.

    Cons

Coworkers support each other, pretty much have to since there is not any real support from management and above. Not kept in the loop. The typical response to everything is "we'll let you know when we know", but they never seem to know. Very flippant regarding employees worth. No growth within.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Acknowledge the wealth of knowledge, commitment, motivation that exists within your walls and appreciate it and you will rise together.

    Pros

staff with oldfashioned values still work there, equipment is in good repair, buildings are updated, IT department staff is extremely helpful and professional

new management company is less focused on patient care and more on numbers

I have been working at Ascension Health full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits, awesome front-loaded PTO, inclusive, growing! Amazing culture.

    Cons

Personal growth from my specific department seems stunted, but everywhere else looks like amazing opportunity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe more recognition and not holding certain departments to goals that they have no hand in being able to assist with.

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook
