    Pros

AIS was a great company to work for, and I would recommend them to anybody. Mark Barner and his leadership team are visionary and make that place one of the best places to work. Keep it up!

    Cons

You don't always get to see your co-workers, since they are halfway across the nation.

    Pros

I enjoyed the open communication between staff and staff with leadership. The patients and families were very appreciative of our services and most would let us know we were appreciated.

    Cons

Seasonal mandated time off due to low census was a challenge at times.

    Advice to Management

Senior management needs to be seen and heard directly more often.

    Pros

Employees are truly focused and dedicated to service of the poor and patient safety/satisfaction/experience!

    Cons

Ascension ministries focus on underserved areas, so hospitals are often not found in as "glamorous" locations.

    Advice to Management

Great leadership and management, very dedicated. Work-Life balance could be a concern, they often work long hours to meet deadlines and drive projects through.

    Pros

Great benefits, awesome front-loaded PTO, inclusive, growing! Amazing culture.

    Cons

Personal growth from my specific department seems stunted, but everywhere else looks like amazing opportunity.

    Advice to Management

Maybe more recognition and not holding certain departments to goals that they have no hand in being able to assist with.

    Pros

There are many opportunities for advancement. This company rewards for honest hard work and believes in promoting from within. The pay is fair if not better than other comparable companies. I have found that the training here is excellent there is a huge emphasis on learning. Management is very approachable and they actually listen to what you have to say and implement your ideas if they are good

    Cons

There is some office politics at play and that is not necessarily a bad thing. You will have to know how to navigate and keep a positive attitude and work hard. You efforts will be noticed.

    Advice to Management

Please give more positive feedback. Let employees know what they are doing well, not just where they are messing up.

Excellent opportunity to make a contribution within the context of a purpose driven mission. Long track-record of accomplishment and discipline in execution of direction and plan.

    Cons

The volume of needs, opportunities and opinions are challenging. Many constituencies that have a real impact on daily activities.

    Advice to Management

Always stay faithful to the purpose and mission

    Pros

Strong Benefits, Exceptional Culture, Strong Results are Noticed, Growing Organization with plenty of room to grow. Associates are given the opportunity to get their job done and contribute to a culture of change.

    Cons

Constant Change. Headcount Pressure Means Lots of Work. All structures at MSC not yet defined, so career paths are not as obvious.

    Advice to Management

Start to think about Succession Planning and growth for Senior Individual Contributors.

    Pros

From an Information Technology perspective, senior management of AIS (Ascension Information Services), especially the CIO, have a world view that correctly identifies the goal of all effective IT projects; that is the enablement of caring for people in the most clinically informed manner possible. 99% of all IT associates I have encountered treat each other with respect and work towards goals consist with this world view. Benefits are excellent, work time expectations are very balanced, HR processes are effective. Education is clearly a priority. Consistent performance and tenure are highly valued by senior management. IT strategic direction and goals are made clear from the CIO through the director-levels, and appear to be correctly aligned with the changing healthcare landscape.

    Cons

Since the organization is large, one has to make a concerted effort to remain connected in order to be most effective and understand how one's job fits within the greater goals of the organization. This is not a problem as long as you make that effort. Compensation within "the ranks" is not at the top of the list, but the work conditions, job satisfaction, and security make up for this.
