I have been working at Ashland full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of great folks who work at Ashland. You will find a mix of several 20+ year employees along with those who have worked less than 3 years. The majority are team oriented and work hard.

    Cons

Sometimes the employees get so caught up in trying to make SAP work more efficiently that we take our mind off one of the most important reasons we are around which is to service the customer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be careful when trimming costs (people) because they do a lot more for the customer than you think they do.

    Pros

Ashland's people are the core of the company and you can't ask for more professionalism or support.

    Cons

Can't think of any other than some of the benefit package could be better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Ashland as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Stable company, great environment, excellent pay. Treat students as regular employees and give us real projects to work on. Lexington campus is nice with lots of cool stuff, like a good gym, barber shop, Ashland/Valvoline swag store, events, and charity work. Management is readily available, interested in helping you and seeing you succeed.

    Cons

Training is dreadful! Lots of learning on the fly, figuring stuff out yourself, and asking full-timers questions. Ashland also seems to be unfocused in their overall business plan at the moment, buying companies and spinning off business groups all at the same time. No current budget for hiring in new talent, and the vast majority of technical staff is within a few years of retirement - major brain drain is imminent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make room to bring some co-ops on full time after graduation, and get rid of your dead weight!

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook
    Approves of CEO
