Pros
It is a fast paced environment so there is always something to do. The employees for the most part are very pleasant.
Cons
No holiday pay. they will not pay you for any overtime you do. Lots of favoritism. Only negative feedback. Management is very unprofessional when it comes to corresponding back to there customers they will often tell you to tell the customer they are not in or in a meeting forcing you to handle they're unhappy most of the time irate customers.
Advice to Senior Management
To appreciate your employees. Do more promoting from the inside intead of bringing in new people for promotions. offer positive as well as negative feedback. Appreciate your valuable employees.
Pros
Great logistic company when the systems are followed.
Cons
Most store owners are on they're own and with little support from Ashley Corp.
Advice to Senior Management
Do a better job of communicating and follow up of the individual stores.
Pros
Top company in the field, good company culture, nice working place, easy to balance your life, salary is ok, etc.
Cons
the risk of labor cost increasing in China, too many vendors that spended high managing cost, economy storm crisis and so on.
Advice to Senior Management
give local people more chance in involving management, more opportunities in different positions, open more, and other offers to leadership.
Pros
Good pay and a pleasant work environment for the most part. Large number of customers due to effective advertising.
Cons
extreme amount of hours required. FRANCHISE OWNERS ARE TERRIBLE!! Working over 90 hours a week is not uncommon. Good luck getting a weekend off or ever taking a vacation.
Advice to Senior Management
Train and retain.
Pros
Fast-paced, and somewhat challenging work.
Cons
Training is scattered and disorganized. Top managers are insecure and exhibit a lack of professional standards or ethics with a bend toward machiavellian behavior. Forget about direction or professional goals and try to keep your head above water.
Advice to Senior Management
Establish an ethical code of conduct and get familiar with state and federal labor laws.
Pros
great money when busy time of year
Cons
not family friendly at all
Advice to Senior Management
not family friendly
Pros
Good co-workers, great discounts and good product.
Cons
Upper management's micro-managing of managers and stores. Very few store visit's, but when senior managers come to the store, they don't understand what has been going on and disregard any requests for help.
Advice to Senior Management
Give your managers the ability to make a decision without sending several emails asking why....
Pros
Ashley offers a lot of opportunity for those willing to work. Be careful, though. It's a meat grinder. People stay there a few months or forever. You must play the game at Ashley or find another team. Medical plan is OK.
Ownership cares about the overall health of the enterprise and will work to help you.
Cons
No retirement match. No pension. No long term disability comp without a huge outlay. No vision. Two weeks of vacation < 5 yrs, then max 3 over lifetime.
Long hours. Salary based on a 40hr work week is not comparable to other jobs since there is no such thing as a 40hr week at Ashley unless you are hourly. Profit sharing around 1%, but not guaranteed.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your department heads. If you won't, then replace them. If you leave them there, listen to them.
Pros
none. The company is disfunctionable.the owner is out of touch.
Cons
no communication.upper management is out of control and not in touch with reality.its like signing up to be in a cult.take my advise and dont drink the cool-aid.
Advice to Senior Management
get your head out of the clouds. This is not the right place to work if you care about your customers.
Pros
Comparable schedule, fast paced, work was interesting
Cons
management disrespectful, pay is lacking, promotions are not well-deserved but rather given to those who know the right people and are favored by executives, management are not people managers, employment is never secure, many people are fired very regularly, ethics are constantly questioned, turn-over rates are through the roof, employee training and retention is not a priority.
Advice to Senior Management
learn how to manage your people, they are your greatest assets, work on implementing change better. It is in your best interest to invest in your people rather than being so quick to fire them. Employees should be cross-trained and better educated to how each position in the chain of events worked, many times people are pitted against each other within the same company when you should all be working towards the same cause.
