    Pros

Chance to work with some very good teammates who Aspen are lucky to hold on to.

    Cons

Any motivation you walk in with on your first day is systematically sucked out of you during your time there. Those who do extra and try to improve systems are ignored while those who fade into the background and just do the bare minimum are rewarded just the same. There is no career progression! Whatever position you start on you are more than likely to leave the company in the same position as only those who suck up to management progress. Senior management is not only completely uneducated in some of the areas they are supposed to be leading but also seem to lack even a modicum of common sense. There is no communication between departments/teams so every process takes at best twice as long as it should. Every department lacks the resources they need to keep up with the workload and if the numbers are there they usually don't have the required experience needed to perform their function. No training is provided to staff to help them gain more experience in their field so the individual is left to fend for themselves and learn by making mistakes. The company oozes desperation, with every recruitment company being aware that Aspen will throw money at any candidate just to secure them and that they will most likely be recruiting someone else to take the same position in less than a year. Turnover of staff is shocking and yet HR do nothing to prevent the haemmorhage of employees. Instead they spend their time offering more benefits to newcomers instead of trying to retain good hardworking employees. The most frustrating thing about this company is that they have some very good, highly educated staff who could turn things around if they were given the chance, but instead they are ignored and things are done the way they have always been done. The company has huge potential if they would only embrace this new blood and let some of their concepts be rolled out company wide.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have the raw materials but you are wasting this precious resource. Go out to the affiliates and make your employees feel valued. Employ department heads who are qualified and competent at both the field they represent and at managing people day to day. Once the appropriate leadership is in place that will help the other staff feel more confident in where the company is going. Also if you employ highly educated staff who bring fresh ideas listen to them. It is broke so let them fix it!!!!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Special Note to Execute Management in Durban!!!-Instead of trying to write up fake and false positive reviews to boost up your company's reputation, better spend some time in your affiliates, open your eyes to what really is happening there, and do something for the employees who spend numerous hours at work, sacrificing from their personal time to build this company for you.

    Pros

there is nothing good that I can recommend, they are a farce, no proper career ladder, no promotion, people who are friendly with manager get promotion

    Cons

management (mauritius) are so unqualified. some do not have a clue of what they need to do, they are constantly watching what you are doing, trying to control and not allowing you to grow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    hire good professional people

    Pros

    Great peers to work with!

    Cons

Very unprofessional management. Unqualified and unfit people who should not be let run fruit stands, let alone an organization, ironically, take key positions in the company. No opportunities for growth! Your performance is never good enough for a promotion while, at the same time, people who suck up to the right executives, advance very fast. The company is like a modern sweat shop where management also has to know every move you make both in your personal and in your professional life. If they sense you start doing any thinking of your own which is not of their liking, you will be considered a 'bad egg' which will rotten the other eggs with its thoughts, so gradually they 'phase you out' or set you up for a failure in order to have grounds to fire you. The company is never in the wrong, it is the employee who is in the wrong. This is why they constantly talk about open communication and feedback , so that they know what is on your mind and can react accordingly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire qualified people for the key leadership positions who will make the right decisions, do what is best for the company and what is fair for its employes. The company needs 'true' leaders and not 'dictators'.

    Pros

None as I am totally disgusted with they why they treat their people

    Cons

Working like slaves, management takes control over your life - at
Work and at home! As a pharmacist working for Aspen I experienced that
As a company, Aspen do not really care for their people!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your qualified specialists with more respect and have more confidence in your employees!

Former Employee - Pharmacist in Port Elizabeth (South Africa)

    Pros

none. Its CEO is a CA so you know your company well financially structured.

    Cons

People in management positions are not qualified for the posts, they are paid to be puppets and not exercise their own thought of mind. Growth is based on sucking up to the right people, and ultimately you are just a number.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Higher qualified people for the positions required. there is so such room for improvement, but cutting costs and employing monkeys, you ultimately going to end up with peanuts.
