Want to sell your soul in exchange for high bonus and a de-humanizing process?-Join Aspen

    Excel Ninja (Current Employee)
    Reading, England (UK)

ProsCo-workers are fantastic. No real competition in many product areas so they continue to cough up the $$$$s.

ConsAll staff terrified of taking any responsibility. Free thinking and debate is stamped on from Executive team downward. Corruption and lies allowed, promoted and encouraged to make the executive reports look good.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou hire experienced staff, listen to them and trust them. Learn form the current number of leavers before the trickle turns into a flood.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

AspenTech is no where near where it could be if employees at all levels were recognized and motivated

ConsNo room for creativity, well-being, recognition, nor motivation/incentiveness.
Strictly no respect for employees, which yet are at the core of business.

    Permanent (Current Employee)
    Reading, England (UK)

ProsDescent package including great health insurance

ConsNo career progression (unless you are with the gods...)
    Fear policy and blaming culture
Upper Management clearly ignoring employees red flags and creative ideas, "if you don't like it, there is the door" attitude (Fusco)
    Deep down growing general demotivation
    Very heavy atmosphere
90% of the employees I know are active on the job market . The Leakage the previous person mentioned has started. Numbers talk. Good luck to you all.

    Massive leakage ahead!

I Don't Want to BE Hanged for Making the Truth Public (Current Employee)
    Reading, England (UK)

ProsDescent benefits and package in industry
Lovely, knowledgeable, extremely capable and trustworthy people working there.
Fantastic multi-culutural ambiance made... by the people!

ConsNo company culture appart from shameless tirany and fear coming from the top down
Close to non-existing (micro) Management due to ingorance of the industry and European markets
No respect from the top down
Promotions are political instead of based on true recognition
Probably more managers, directors, and above all useless VPs than in any other company
    Blaming policy

Advice to Senior ManagementCary on what it is you are doing so well, whatever the people making what AspenTech is today, when competition hits hard, please do blame employees and not your excellent strategy...

Fair salary, but no chance of carreer progression

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Reading, England (UK)

    ProsSalary is not too bad

ConsMiddle and senior management is completely useless. Some directors are a waste of space.
There are too many management layers, and the hierarchic structure is too rigid to accommodate personal growth and career progression.
The only way to have a career s to leave the company, as nobody gets promoted internally.

Advice to Senior ManagementToo many many directors and nobody that really understands the business and the people.
Would you like to know why we have a high turn over of people?
Because there are no internal promotions and no career path. A decent salary sometimes is not enough. If many consider leaving the company for the same or even a lower salary is because they see no future in this company. When people leave saying that they were looking for a new challenge, it means that they found a company that may invest in them, train them, pay them more, and offer a career progression.
AspenTech reply is usually: "if you want to leave that's the door" (Fusco's words). This is the kind of message that makes people look for another job.

    AspenTech

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Reading, England (UK)

    ProsClose to where i live
Learnt a lot about how much little delegation makes your life impossible

    ConsNo access to training
    No flexible working pattern
    No respect for employees
Short term view management (no longer view than maximum 6 months)
No understanding of what it means to be a global company

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you want to be global try to understand cultural differences and local practices. Don't assume that everything can be done today because you have decided that it is your first priority. There are countries regulations not allowing you to move as fast as you wish.
