    Pros

The organization has been around for a very long time and was founded by some of the biggest names in consulting - Booz, McKinsey, others. Through economic ups and downs, AMCF has deftly stayed the course, and that's thanks to strong, consistent leadership and a solid Board presence. AMCF itself being a small, nimble organization based in NYC, is a tremendous place to work. Working at AMCF provides employees exposure to many diverse opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow. Access to leadership is almost always available, and leadership invests in its people. The work is very challenging in all the right, good-for-you ways.

    Cons

It's a small office, so there will naturally be issues specific to that environment, just like there are different issues associated with working at a large firm. It's a nonprofit, so compensation is also not going to be equivalent to the private sector. But the upside to it is that everyone pitches in; it's much more collaborative than a large firm. In addition, you really can make your job your own, and leadership is open to feedback from staff at all levels. You are valued as a person and as an employee here.

    Cons

This was the worst place I have ever worked. The President & COO was a horrible manager. She would constantly say one thing and then expect something different. You had vacation/sick time but were berated if you used any of it. You were only allowed to take 5 minutes for lunch and then forced to eat it at your desk. There weren't enough desks/computers for the employees.

    Advice to Management

    Hire some new management.
