    Pros

Great culture, very open and down to earth folks. Work life balance is great.

    Cons

Not much room for growth. Favoritism to say the least. Benefits are decent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The upper management tries to keep employees up to date and engaged with the direction of the company. One of the very few companies where I saw the CEO so frequently.

    Pros

Most people are cool, 10% shift diff for the 2nd shifters, pretty decent benefits and paid time off (holidays and vacations), you can wear jeans, they are good about working with you if you need to leave early or come in late, if your a single guy you have plenty of options b/c alot of the woman their are unfaithful.

    Cons

It's not about what you know it's who you know, crappy pay schedule (twice a month 1st and 15th) lots of false promises, horrible parking, lot's of cliques and displays of favoritism, unless your a minority or gay don't expect much praise for doing a good job, training is mediocre, unreliable resource guides, continuous changes, and the office politics are worse than presidential election season

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire mgmt that actually have mgmt experience, listen to your people, don't make promises you can't keep, lose the stigmata of 2nd shift people being the rejects and address more of the lazy people on 1st or perhaps adjust your work queues to fit with the shifts....

I have been working at Assurant full-time

    Pros

The job has a lot of flexibility and respects a work life balance

    Cons

Not able to move from your position if you do not know the a hiring manager that is willing to give you a chance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Select and hire managers from within instead of recruting from the outside. There are plenty of hourly associates that has what it takes to lead the company in its initiatives if given the opportunity.

I have been working at Assurant full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly environment to work in. Many folks there have worked 10+ years. Remote or work from home 1 day a week is an option depending on your position and manager. Wage os good, slightly above average if you negotiate.

    Cons

Management lacks people skills. Dealing with managment can be frustrating. Depending on the site, females are favored fo r positions and promotions. My site was over 70% women. Manager, director, vp all women. Men were not considered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be professional, seek training for better people skills and effectively managing and motivating your team. Senior management should seek feedback from staff and address concerns.

    Pros

There's a bonus at the end of the year if your manager thinks you deserve it They do a lot of community fundraising

    Cons

Managers treatment of employees is awful. I had a manager that two employees went to HR on and nothing was done The pay is awful Was there over a year before I even got the chance to get in a training class

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have your managers take some kind of empathy training

I worked at Assurant full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Assurant is very laid back to work at. It is family oriented, slow paced. Low stress environment, so people are overall nice. Time-off is quite decent, 14+ days per year. The salaries are above average. The cafeteria is ok.

    Cons

If you are eager to learn and develop, this is probably not the place for you. People are settled in their own ways of doinng things. It is very bureaucratic, and overall no incentive to excel. As long as you are physically present for 8 hours/day you'll get to keep you job.
