    Pros

The job has a lot of flexibility and respects a work life balance

    Cons

Not able to move from your position if you do not know the a hiring manager that is willing to give you a chance.

    Advice to Management

Select and hire managers from within instead of recruting from the outside. There are plenty of hourly associates that has what it takes to lead the company in its initiatives if given the opportunity.

    Pros

Most people are cool, 10% shift diff for the 2nd shifters, pretty decent benefits and paid time off (holidays and vacations), you can wear jeans, they are good about working with you if you need to leave early or come in late, if your a single guy you have plenty of options b/c alot of the woman their are unfaithful.

    Cons

It's not about what you know it's who you know, crappy pay schedule (twice a month 1st and 15th) lots of false promises, horrible parking, lot's of cliques and displays of favoritism, unless your a minority or gay don't expect much praise for doing a good job, training is mediocre, unreliable resource guides, continuous changes, and the office politics are worse than presidential election season

    Advice to Management

Hire mgmt that actually have mgmt experience, listen to your people, don't make promises you can't keep, lose the stigmata of 2nd shift people being the rejects and address more of the lazy people on 1st or perhaps adjust your work queues to fit with the shifts....

    Pros

There's a bonus at the end of the year if your manager thinks you deserve it They do a lot of community fundraising

    Cons

Managers treatment of employees is awful. I had a manager that two employees went to HR on and nothing was done The pay is awful Was there over a year before I even got the chance to get in a training class

    Advice to Management

Have your managers take some kind of empathy training

    Pros

Assurant is very laid back to work at. It is family oriented, slow paced. Low stress environment, so people are overall nice. Time-off is quite decent, 14+ days per year. The salaries are above average. The cafeteria is ok.

    Cons

If you are eager to learn and develop, this is probably not the place for you. People are settled in their own ways of doinng things. It is very bureaucratic, and overall no incentive to excel. As long as you are physically present for 8 hours/day you'll get to keep you job.

    Advice to Management

just because someone has longevity, or a college education does not make them a good manager. changing everyone around every three to six months is not always a good thing

    Pros

Assurant is a company where you are able to work and grow. Having a company where they help you improve yourself is important. The employees at Assurant are some of the NICEST and hardworking individuals you will find.

    Cons

With the downsizing of staff, the workload of many employees went above and beyond what any normal company would expect. You can't expect to have good moral in the office when you are not being appreciated for the many extra hours worked.

    Advice to Management

My advice would be don't ask your employees for there input unless you are willing to listen and learn from this advice. Please, please, don't take it out on your employee when they tell you something you don't want to hear(especially if you asked) Appreciate your staff!!

    Pros

A family like work environment with people on your team. Easier to advance to new jobs within the company when already an associate.

    Cons

Job cuts are common and hard to get hired back when they are always doing job cuts. Its a shame that the company is financially unstable. They are always looking to do out sourcing.

    Pros

Fair compensation for professional level associates. Generous expense account offerings. Good teleworking options.

    Cons

It's tough to figure out how you fit into the Assurant puzzle. Working as a professional in a Call Center company means you're unlikely to be treated like a professional. Upward advancement is difficult to come by.
