I have been working at Assurant full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Consistent
The people who work here are really great!
Company does a lot of little treat/surprises for employees

    Cons

No Real Room To Move Up With The Company
End of Year Pay Increases Are A Joke
Only 1 Annual bonus with company around Christmas Time
Twice a month Pay Schedule (15th & last day of the month)
Cafeteria food is Expensive and Gross
No real chance of ever getting a schedule change... Make sure you are hired with a schedule you can see yourself working for a LONG time

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you have employees do additional work such as being trained on multiple clients, being cross trained in core/loss drafts, pay them for it! Stop hiring team leads and managers based off popularity!

I worked at Assurant full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Most people are cool, 10% shift diff for the 2nd shifters, pretty decent benefits and paid time off (holidays and vacations), you can wear jeans, they are good about working with you if you need to leave early or come in late, if your a single guy you have plenty of options b/c alot of the woman their are unfaithful.

    Cons

It's not about what you know it's who you know, crappy pay schedule (twice a month 1st and 15th) lots of false promises, horrible parking, lot's of cliques and displays of favoritism, unless your a minority or gay don't expect much praise for doing a good job, training is mediocre, unreliable resource guides, continuous changes, and the office politics are worse than presidential election season

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire mgmt that actually have mgmt experience, listen to your people, don't make promises you can't keep, lose the stigmata of 2nd shift people being the rejects and address more of the lazy people on 1st or perhaps adjust your work queues to fit with the shifts....

I worked at Assurant full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

A paycheck and benefits. That's the only kind thing I have to say except there are some nice people that work at Assurant..

    Cons

Everything else is bad. Working conditions are horrible. It's almost as bad as prison. They complain when you go on bathroom breaks etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't lie to employees and expect them to believe you when your poker face is horrible. Also, don't tell emplyees to lie to the customers either.

The interview and training was not realistic for the actual job.

I have been working at Assurant full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The location was nice and the benefits were decent.

    Cons

The training was not sufficient for the job, they promise support upon release to the floor. Support from team leaders is almost non-existent. My team was actually in the same training class as me and retained less information. The expectations of the clients are not reasonable for the type of calls that come in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fully train team leaders, managers, and trainers first. I would also suggest a better escalation process for irate customers. Being told they will get a call back in 1 to 2 business when people are on the brink of losing their homes is not right. Also I would suggest explaining the mandatory overtime requirement in the interview instead of just surprising people when they receive their schedule.

I worked at Assurant full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Finding a large company that offers benefits in Springfield Ohio is a difficult feat, but Assurant is a nice place to gain experience in an office setting if you do not have any. They also offer a lot of free training courses that you can take through the company, and they also have very felxible scheduling.

    Cons

If start at Assurant at Entry Level, be prepared to stay there. They rarely, if ever, promote from with in. However, if you enter in as management, you may have a better chance. Also, there were many incentive prograams available when I first started in 2005, but as the years progressed they slowly did away with all of them, as well as changed the company's health insurance package. They still expected a large amount of overtime, but no longer made the idea of all that work appealing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you have a person on your team that does exceptionally well, why would you think they would not do exceptional well in a higher position? Don't be afraid to move them forward, especially if your only concern is replacing them from their current position.

    I worked at Assurant

    Pros

    Location, other employees, training ok

    Cons

Management poor, Conditions worked until burned out, no help with clients, clients always unhappy on the phone with our work ethic, will not allow you to go to restroom or get water when needed unless on break or lunch Management has no clue what to do, poor pay for what you do and fire you before benefits begin. Many employees on medication for blood pressure due to work performance and fear of being fired on the spot. Glad I am out of there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

work for 3 months then out of a job no help from management management has no education or disappear when needed clients suffer and we look stupid as employees. They lie to you about your performance and can you the next day
