Current Employee – been working at Astellas Pharma US full-time
Pros – Flexible time to take care of personal / family matters. Great benefits.
Cons – Promotions are rare with minimal career growth. Leadership is scared to speak up; they feel beaten down and not willing to fight for their team. Management and up receive the acknowledgments of individual team members, rather than the individuals. Management receives substantially larger bonus' over their team members (3-4x more), plus much higher wages. Communication is extremely lacking. Senior VP has a tendency to micromanage the entire facility rather than allow them the opportunity to expand and grow with the faith you have rather than continuous doubt (personnel and management).
Advice to Senior Management – Stick up for your teams rather than beat them down...bring them up. Don't speak badly about other teams, but help them help you with better communication, patience and understanding. Have faith in your employees to make the right decisions (senior VP)...allow them to grow by making the decisions they were hired to make. Communicate with personnel to allow them to better understand your expectations, which in turn will allow them the opportunity to grow and expand their experience and value.

Former Employee – worked at Astellas Pharma US full-time for more than a year
Pros – Working for Astellas as a company. Good benefits and good package.(but as they say, there is always a catch and If you work in IT ...you are doomed".)
Cons – IT department has no strategy. No respect for employees. Leader is over his head, arrogant. Senior IT leaders always find a scape goat to place the blame on. Does not respect diversity, no respect for women. In fact there is no woman who is above the title of senior manager. Very racist. Will work everyone too hard and if one thing goes wrong, the person who works so hard gets fired. There is no alignment within Senior IT leaders and so much in-fighting, politics within such a small team, brings down the morale of the whole team. Contractors and Consultants are treated as 2nd or 3rd class human beings.Total disrespect to consultants & contractors.
Advice to Senior Management – Actually this is to the Company Senior Management. Astellas overall is a good place to work but your IT Department is running a "mafia" like operation spoiling the name of the company. Review all the exit interviews from IT, the story will unfold. No prior IT employee will recommend this work place for anyone. Cleanup the IT leadership and make it a great place to work as the rest of Astellas.

Current Employee – been working at Astellas Pharma US full-time for more than a year
Pros – Company benefits are exceptional. Plenty of budget for projects.
Cons – Unethical and incompetent Corp IT group. It is scary to have an opinion that doesn't match what the leadership wants to hear. People are very good at blaming others for their poor decisions. It is a shame that the different IT groups feel like they are in competition with each other. This leads to cover-up activities which the other IT groups and Japan aren't aware of.
Advice to Senior Management – Change can't happen where there is no trust. Loyalty is valued over competency in Corp IT. It is obvious who needs to go, just have the courage to make the change.

Current Employee – been working at Astellas Pharma US as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – great looking building, parking garage
Cons – Condescending attitude on part of management, no training time, employees are stressed all the time, expected to do tasks not in your job scope without direction or training, met with opposition from staff on first day. Not friendly group. Frustrated if you ask questions. Everyone leaves every Friday at noon so if you need anything after that you are out of luck.
Advice to Senior Management – Clean up the IT group. Everyone there is stressed and over committed.

Current Employee – been working at Astellas Pharma US full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Astellas can be a great place to work if you are in the right department. Management supports empowering the employees in some functions, not all. The employees are wonderful and more often than not, work together.
Cons – Astellas is not consistent in all functions. Lack of communication is the biggest downfall within Astellas. Also, too many upper managers are in over their heads. I have seen too many employees get blamed for their boss' mistakes.
Advice to Senior Management – My best advice for management is really ask employees for their issues/opinions. Follow through with any corrections that are needed. A lot of good talent is being under utilized.
