Pros
The company was very good about helping you attain your goals or other positions within the company if you felt that was a direction you wanted to take. Company consistently worked on associate development and tried to set the pace for the industry forcing competitors to follow with similar programs.
Cons
The company serves a shrinking marketplace with the paper industry as its sole customer. As such employment at astenjohnson will have a very real cloud of uncertainty over it. As good as the benefits package is the uncertainty needs to be considered as part of any career decision.
Pros
Excellent associates.
Decent wages.
An OK benefit program.
Excellent safety program.
Very good environments to work in.
Local managers very easy to access.
Cons
Upper management can easily be sold on the personal agendas of high level managers.
Friendships triumph over skills and knowledge every time.
Project approvals will linger in limbo unless the right person is in agreement.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop telling associates how important they are and really show them. Actions do speak louder than words.
Personal agendas are really detrimental to the success of the company.
