    Pros

Line managers that are interested in their teams' well being as well as performance
Flexible work arrangements are first class
    Good performance is rewarded
Clear career paths and development framework
International colleague support is readily available if you ask
International mobility of working on projects overseas is particularly pleasing

    Cons

IT systems are, in some cases, somewhat antiquated and can be frustratingly slow or unresponsive
Activities can sometimes be very process driven, unnecessarily so

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The social aspects of the organisation should remain a focus for the business. "Work hard, play hard" is fine, as long as the play element is there.

    Pros

Great exposure for me as a beginner. As they hire only the best, you get the chance to work with the best. Surrounded by smart people changes you for good. Atkins takes up only large corporate projects only, so if you want to get hands on experience working on a large scale project manged through international best practices, there is no other place other than Atkins.

    Cons

Moving up is slow. Compensation is based on a standard scale linked to your job title. Sometimes feels like a govt. office for this reason.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensate young aspiring worker handsomely if you want them to stay and add value to your company.

Current Employee - Graduate Engineer in Birmingham, England (UK)

    Pros

People take time to invest in your future. For top engineers there are some very interesting projects worldwide.

    Cons

Takes time to move up the ladder. Many graduates leave after the three years training, to competitors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perhaps dont recruit that many graduates. Many are leaving anyway.

    Pros

You have the opportunity to excell and and accomplish all your goals. Independents is very important. Company has fantastic benefits and you feel valuable.

    Cons

The management has made some dum desicions and as a result of it I got laid off. Since the recesion they have been going through some tough times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The upper management needs to have some great leaders that will guide the company in correct direction. Seems like everyone is for themself.

Former Employee - Mechanical Engineer - Site Operations in Manama (Bahrain)

    Pros

Plenty of avenues to shape up your ideas & views.

    Cons

Its grown so big that the smaller jobs too are viewed with the retrorespective of any Mega projects. To focus in project within the project....! Should always maintain edge over the Contractor & Should not be Client or Contractor driven project.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Technical development should be constantly focussed keeping abreast with the new developments rather than getting new recruits on short terms. Instead some areas should be outsourced & parallel develop our own team BOH.
