I worked at Atkins full-time (more than a year)

    Fair performance review process.

Salary is not competitive with respect to the industry standards.

Implement common policy on secondments across the departments.

I worked at Atkins full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Having many disciplines in one office was a great experience for growth. Som of the PM's eager to share their knowledge. The benefits were very affordable.

    Cons

Location of the office is very undesirable. Lots of traffic and very few options for lunch. People don't leave companies, they leave management/leadership. My supervisor was pompous, arrogant and thankless. I'm not sure how he and his side kick got in the building with heads as big as theirs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company needs to provide more management training for their managers and be more aware of how their employees are being treated.

    Pros

nothing to count as a plus

    Cons

Highly Discriminatory; everything english is assets anyone else is consumables!
NO WORK AND LIFE BALANCE, the company work employees to THEIR OWN GRAVE, literally
Bureaucracy is the key word in all actions, till nothing gets done
Hostile environment, inability to accept feedback let alone consider it!
Discipline and compliance are on the back burner!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

you are set in your own ways, and no self awareness so carry on!

    Pros

None anymore. They have terminated anyone who isn't British. Pay is average Time off is per industry standard also

    Cons

If you are American, you will be treated badly. Do NOT take a job here. Any positive posts are being done by HR, they are not real posts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just leave the US. You hate Americans so stop trying to prosper from them.

I have been working at Atkins

    Pros

As always, plenty of opportunities to grow in technical, operations or leadership roles. New structure designed to simplify lateral working across the group.

    Cons

Outside of being an engineer or designer, career progression is largely up to the individual to drive forward with limited clarity on career paths.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Shout louder about amazing achievements. Better coordination of divisional marketing to draw together a simplified communication of our services.

salary is peanuts in Indian office compared to other offices. this is sort of a clearing centre so subject to whims and fancies of the project offices

I worked at Atkins as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

They use an incredibly high number of softwares and they use all of them equally. As a fresh graduate, although I was only able to stick around for a short while due to the decline in oil prices, I managed to learn many valuable skills. I've never seen a company use as many softwares as Atkins. Keep in mind that I'm speaking in regards to their consultancy that caters to the energy sector- I am unaware of how their other offices operate.

    Cons

Management seems to be slow about getting work around the office. I had no control over how much work I had, and there would be times where I simply sat down and did nothing for several hours, or even days at a time, while my colleagues were all busy. Management does a lot more of their own work than actual management. Perhaps I disagree with the company philosophy which may be significantly more effective than how traditional businesses run, but from my experience it seemed to favor senior employees and leave new ones on the back burner.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People were being hired for a string of 6 or so months, even 2 months into the market crash. There was not enough work for all of these people. Should definitely consider slowing down the hiring process if the work is as heavily tied to the economy as it seems to be.
