    Pros

While I was an intern, I was allowed to volunteer through all departments. My supervisors were very open minded

    Cons

A bit too little direction. Days on end without projects

    Advice to Management

Keep up the internship program, but offer it to recent graduates (don't just require course credit!)

  2. The retail department needs to treat their employees much better

    Pros

The job itself is fairly easy and very fun. You meet interesting people and everyone is so excited around you.

    Cons

The retail management sucks. The manager is very arrogant and self-interested. He has very little care for his employees. They also give very poor training to new employees. I was personally put in a potentially dangerous situation and lacked the proper training to respond correctly, resulting in my resignation from the company. I was also left to pick up the blame for the incident although I was doing my job as told, while the poorly advised supervisor had no idea how to deal with the situation resulting in the messy outcome.

    Advice to Management

You should learn to take accountability for mistakes made on your behalf. They blame employees for things going wrong, rather than facing the fact that they are money hungry and fail to train their new employees correctly.

  3. Great ride.

    Pros

Great employees with a lot of character. Going to work everyday is actually fun. There are definitely perks if you like basketball.

    Cons

I would say the biggest con would be the separation of sales and other departments. There's definitely a divide but apparently that's how it is at every company that isn't strictly sales.

    Advice to Management

Make your employees love their jobs so they are ambassadors for the brand.

    Pros

Great work environment. A place with good benefits and a family dynamic that I have never seen before. They like to promote sales people from within. Yes, you can get good free tickets to their games and sometimes concerts at Philips Arena. Around holidays everyone really gets in the spirit and decorates the offices as well as having company outings to blow off steam. But there are people who work really hard here. Everyone greets you with a smile.

    Cons

One of the stranger things about working with the Atlanta Hawks is that most of the employees don't actually work in the arena, they have to constantly walk up and down the street from their office to arena. Working in sports can also feel like a 24/7 job with the long hours from 9:00 to end of games/concerts.

    Advice to Management

I noticed there were a lot of young people trying to "make it" into the leadership roles. I'd suggest more incentives to keep those workers.

    Pros

The HR Manager was very helpful and instrumental in ensuring that the internship was a learning experience and that interns in the HR department get the most of their time there. The HR team is very flexible with the hours you can work.

Discounted tickets to events happening in Philips Arena. Great area to work in.

    Cons

Summer interns don't get the full experience because basketball season is over.

    Pros

Working for an NBA team is a very exciting job that give you access to wonderful experiences that you cannot gain from other employers.

    Cons

Working weeknights and weekends but that comes with the territory of working for an NBA team. You have to expect that.

    Advice to Management

Upper management was very open. Held numerous town hall meetings with the staff and gave the staff to interact with the players during several annual events.

    Pros

Watch free basketball and living in Atlanta is cool, so is working In Sports

    Cons

Awful pay, can't sell anything. Management can't keep interest in product.

    Advice to Management

    Start the Sales staff over.

    Pros

Training was of high importance to the organization. The ability to grow was always an option into the area of sales that interested the person.

    Cons

Very long hours. Weekends and holidays a must during the basketball season. Tough life-work balance.
