    Pros

Continued learning for Special Events training , Customer Care and Business Operations professionalism

    Cons

Caring for customers who need to believe that their event should be perfect and helping them understand that they are through their eyes while the wrinkles are being ironed out.

    Advice to Management

Please pay close attention to all details and be appreciative of employees from all departments.

    Pros

If you are apart of the small group of people that "really" run the Atlanta History Center this is a great place to work. If you are not apart of this Buckhead good old boys team and their wives, kids, etc... Working there is just ok.

    Cons

The biggest challenge I see is a lack of advancement in the organization. No cross training at all. No promoting from within. There are people that have been there for years in part time positions hoping for a full time opportunity....this people all seem to have a comment look and background.

    Advice to Management

No. I don't think the President knows that his Directors and HR deportment is discriminating against a large part of Atlanta.

    Pros

Beautiful surroundings, enriching programs and nice people to work along side of in an
low pressure atmosphere, volumes of resources at your fingertips and fun events to particiate and observe.

    Cons

Employees not rewarded for excellence, advancement policies uneven.

    Advice to Management

Act more like a non-profit in hiring and firing.

    Pros

Working here pushes you to be creative and learn new things daily. It's an extremely laid back and casual environment, which makes it a fun place to work.

    Cons

The laid back environment can also mean that it's a bit unprofessional. Bosses reveal things to employees that they shouldn't and people gossip about others regularly. Also, there is a good handful of people that are in management positions who are just not competent at their jobs. These folks, who are not leaving anytime soon, are occupying valuable spots that would provide opportunities for other more qualified candidates. Pay is very low and there is very little opportunity for advancement, except for the lucky few.

  6. An Excellent Introduction Into Museum Education.

I worked at Atlanta History Center part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Flexible schedule
    - Direct supervisors were honest and fair
    - Interfacing with the public
    - Opportunities to grow in your related field

    Cons

    - Pay is ridiculously low for educators expected to have at least a B.A.

    Advice to Management

The educators and their direct supervisors are the ones that keep the museum open and running. Offer them a little gratitude in regards to pay and workload and their might not be quite as much staff turnover.
