I worked at Atlas Air Worldwide full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good salary and compensation packages. Very solid company.

    Cons

As a crew member, you stay away from home, at least half of the month. Away from your family a lot.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Atlas Air Worldwide full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Challenging flying, with a lot of variety in destinations and mission-types. Nice aircraft. Top-notch leadership with a great business plan. Pilot Union and Management are superior to competing airlines. Gateway travel means that you can live where you want, and the company provides travel to begin your trip-whether it starts in your base airport or elsewhere.

    Cons

Longer trip lengths (up to 17 days) can be a challenge for those who are not used to long-haul international flying. On the up-side, days off are in large blocks that allow weeks of free-time at home.

I have been working at Atlas Air Worldwide full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This company is full of amazing people. We have a good time working together. It also depends on the group of the company youre in. HDQ is definitely a fun place if you let it be. Also, the industry is very interesting and Atlas is continuously making changes to position itself strongly within the industry.

    Cons

Horrible compensation. Also, many of the employees are extremely overworked and spend hours on their laptops or emails at home.

I have been working at Atlas Air Worldwide full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Up to 2 weeks off a month
    - Global route structure
    - Competitive Pay
    - Buisness class travel during international deadheads
    - 4 to 5 Star accommodation during layovers
    - Rumoured to have future growth
    - Flexable Crew Scheduling/Travel department

    Cons

    - Aircraft Maintenance is contracted and not the best
    - Long patterns (up to 17 days)
    - Airline is dependant on contracts
    - New B747-8 aircraft are part of a fleet renewal and NOT expansion program
    - Catering is below standard (depending on station)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer various rotations to meet individual needs, eg. 7 ON / 7 OFF, to accomadate crew members with young children. Being gone 17 days in a row can be hard on family life.
Equalization of Out-Base, the same crew members are out-basing every month. Spread the wealth!

I have been working at Atlas Air Worldwide

    Pros

    - Lots of convenience (Cafeteria / Transportation / On site Gym)
    - Pays is competitive for an Entry Level role
    - Upper management is very accessible and easy to work with.
    - Overall the people are very easy to work with at all levels
    - Hours: 8:45 - 4:45

    Cons

    - Has an old fashion cubical environment.
    - VERY little interaction with members of your same group let alone your department
    - Not a team oriented environment
    - Hard to get to know people for the following reasons (Cubicals / large building / very cliquey)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The best advice to senior management or HR would be to livin up the work space. This could be done using team/company events (other than a x-mas party), having an open floor plan or simply or simply marketing team and/or company goals around the office so people at least feel and know they are part of a team.
