Pros
Diversity and Smart people in the company is one of best reasons to work with AECL. People in company are very helpful and supportive to Summer/Co-op students. They promote good social activities. Security is always on number one priority for them and at the same time high security is not an obstacle for employees in daily routine. Work culture is great. Company is doing good profit and is growing rapidly. Offer periodic training to employees to up grade their knowledge, which is very important in my opinion. It has huge varieties of engineering filed jobs so it provide truly multidisciplinary work culture.
Cons
Work Locations are remote places for some people but its good for outdoor activities after work life. Hard to get hold to different departments due to security reasons.

Pros

Cons
lots of people have been working for the company for many years; they don't like changes; they even get fussy when they are told that some processes need to change.
Advice to Senior Management
stop hiring on contract the same people who just retired. it seems to be a good business.
How many VPs are enough?
HR lets down people big time
Pros
Pay is decent, opportunities for quick advancement are good, benefits are good, and the pension is excellent. The work can be stimulating and people are generally willing to work with you and allow you to learn from them.
Cons
Very difficult to get anything completed especially if it involves decision making. Very little guidance in terms of making decisions. To many layers of management. Older employees can be lazy. Half-ass business improvement initiatives.
Advice to Senior Management
Cut out the middle management and make yourself visible
Pros
Pay, Benefits, exciting company, worldwide customer base
Cons
government controlled, professional unions inhibit rapid advancement
Advice to Senior Management
weed out the incompetent managers
Pros
Great benefits package, flexible hours, minimum 3 weeks of vacation, relaxed atmosphere, govermant job and benefits associated with it. Fairly safe when it comes to layoffs. Unionized environment
Cons
poor emnagemant, probems associated with nuclear industry: lots of paper shuffling. questions about future of the company. unionized environment so there are lots of people that have been here for long period of time. if you have to work with then it can be pain sometimes, on teh otehr hand there is lots of experience associated with them
Advice to Senior Management
be more straight forward, simplify processes, there is lots of complicated stuff. sometimes it si hard to figureout who is in charge on the lower level
