Pros
Coworkers were awesome. Most of us were really cohesive as a group because of the fast-pace of the company. The auctions are interesting and varied. All kinds of stuff gets consigned, prices are great and the variety really keeps it interesting.
Cons
Managers have almost no leadership ability. There is a full time management coach on staff, but his training is basic and he keeps regurgitating the same stuff over and over again. The only leader we had in the company left, and when she departed they hired on a new person who was a government employee to take her place. The place needs the inter-departmental communication it used to have.
Advice to Senior Management
Nobody is benefiting from the on staff management coach. Give your employees more positive support and be approachable. Hire some managers who we can respect and encourage us line-level employees to grow as people.
Pros
The job is never the same, always different and interesting, and the auctions are exciting. Its also near the freeway and easy to get too.
Cons
The company has no consistency anymore. Its like the owner and managers make up rules to fit their needs. They have started selling junk. I had a great manager who left the company earlier this year but since she's gone the place has changed and not for the better. I should have moved on sooner but because the economy is so bad I had a hard time finding a new job. I don't recommend this place as a good place to work even though it seems exciting on the outside. Its to stressful and the management doesn't value the people that work for them.
Advice to Senior Management
The owner and managers should have respect for employees, and stop makeing empty promises that aren't kept. Find some stability, and stop making up rules as you go along. Either listen to the management coach or get rid of him altogether, because the employees think he's a figure head and not really doing the management any good anyway since the place has gotten so bad.
