    Growing but immature.

    Senior Manager (Current Employee)

ProsClear company vision, values-based culture, coaching and mentoring are the norm. Company is growing, particularly in Asia, solid financials.

ConsCompany wants to be a global player but is seriously stuck on a local (Australian) mindset. Very insular senior management disenfranchises the potential of the firm. Foray into offshoring is disorganized and lacking clear framework vs. peers like JP Morgan, HSBC and Deutsche. The Aussie "tall-poppy" ethic is clearly evident and undermines the values that the CEO brought to the company. External talent are attracted to the company because of opportunity, but company has not proven its ability to retain that talent.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou already have a clear vision and values but the next step is execution. Empower your offices by laying out clear frameworks and trust your management teams on the ground. Also: Asia is not a country - get your Australian heads out of the sand and realise that the world is a much larger and diverse place than you previously thought.

Not one if the better banks I've worked at

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Melbourne (Australia)

ProsOk career opportunities, and if you find a good boss then, it's a nice environment or work in, the building is quite nice as well.

ConsThey no longer support further study (eg MBA etc) and they have been pretty tight with pay rises for the last 3 years. Also the more senior you get the harder it is to take maternity leave etc. especially for women, and still advance your career.

Advice to Senior ManagementStronger female role models would be nice. Also a re think of our space and the number of seats allocated it can be very alienating not having a seat with your team.
