    Decent place to work at

Lead Developer (Former Employee) Bangalore (India)

    Pros- Good work culture
    - Timings: Mon-Fri: 8 am to 5 pm
    - Not extremely cut throat competitive

Cons- Not challenging enough, especially for freshers or young professionals
    - Quite laid back
    - Hierarchical, moving up the ladder is entirely based on merit and performance, years count
    - Not engaged with advanced technology and innovations

Advice to Senior ManagementIt will be useful to be more in touch with latest technological innovations and developments in the industry and not just be very laid back

I enjoyed working in the Docklands building, but it's an isolated location

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Melbourne (Australia)

ProsGreat strategy to expand the business into Asia and it's starting to bring results. The bank has good governance, great rates of pay and study allowances. STaff can progress by working in different areas of the organisation.

ConsThings move slowly in a this large organisation and change agents aren't embedded quickly enough to facilitate progress.
Unfortunately, some junior managers are promoted too quickly into leadership positions that are beyond their capabilities and this negatively impacts otherwise highly functional teams.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe contribution from HR function is negligible - it's a silent, invisible function at ANZ. With the constant restructurings and downsizings HR should be at the forefront, partnering with the business to manage the organisational change and reduce negative impacts on staff.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

too much politics and lack of investment in technology

Senior Software Developer (Current Employee) Sydney (Australia)

    Prosgood salary
    good location
    good working hours
intention to become a leading investment bank in asia

Consno real in house development - i.e. more purchase of banking s/w and customise for their purpose. not really engineering solutions

Advice to Senior Managementoffshoring isn't the solution to long term growth - local investment is needed.
