I worked at Australia and New Zealand Banking as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

They really let you do stuff and guided you through your tasks. The people are very friendly and willing to help you if you ask questions and show you enthusiasm to work.

    Cons

Commercial Banking (CMB) seems like the busiest department in the bank, so expect to work over hour even if you are just an intern, because everyone else in the team also works after hour and you feel obligated to stay and help them.

    Pros

The "super regional" expansion across Asia is quite an exiting thing to be part of and gives you an opportunity to work with people all across Asia.

    Cons

Like any large bank, there is quite a bit of bureaucracy and red tape. Sometimes change take a while to implement.

I worked at Australia and New Zealand Banking

    Pros

Overall, my experience with ANZ is very optimistic. The culture is very competitive but humane. There are work-life balance. Different from local banks and Citibank in Singapore, ANZ's business is not that crowded. So the lowest position of our department is director. And they are very competitive and professional, highly-efficient while working.

    Cons

For graduates, ANZ Singapore is not a idealable company for internship if you are targeted at looking full-time jobs based on the internship. Because there are very few full-time positions for fresh graduates. Most of their positions ask for those with at least 3 years' working experience. But if you are studying Australia and New Zealand, that will be a totally different story.

I have been working at Australia and New Zealand Banking full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Work life balance
    Fosters learning
    Good manager-employee communication
    Good senior management communication
    High level of engagement
    Stakeholders are understanding
    Good leave policy

    Cons

IT infrastructure and delivery is poor
Career path and promotions not as per industry standards
Can put one in a comfort zone if we don't challenge ourselves
    Stakeholders sometimes dump work
    Documentation is still a WIP
    Can be political
    Very much an operations mentality

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a promotion policy in place. Does not make good career sense to keep jumping roles in order to get promoted.
