    Pros

Disciplined, Organised and good to work in the company along with a decent pay. Early morning shifts are great to work in. Acceptable work pressure and challenging job along with useful training.

    Cons

Work environment is not so great and does not make you feel proud about the job. Less scope for the job profile if you leave the job(since there are less banking firms to jump to). Less or no interaction with the team members and other teams as well and no fun at work( however there are working on it with disastrous results). Your skills are not used to the fullest and sometimes asked to do simple data entry job for months together.

    Advice to Management

Please provide the right job for right people and hire the people who deserve to be in the company and not people so dumb that they have not even touched a keyboard in their life.

    Pros

The ANZ bank itself has much going for it. It is the Wealth division that is the problem

    Cons

Senior Management create an oppressive culture that lowers employee engagement.

    Advice to Management

How can you tell an asleep person they are asleep? They don't take advice, they think they know what they are doing. That is the problem

    Pros

Good work life balance, people understand that family is important. But people also work hard. they come in early and leave early, they get the job done and can leave. Colleagues are fun and smart.

    Cons

May be difficult to move internally as they prefer hiring externally - so internal mobility is encouraged but limited opportunities available.

    Advice to Management

Encourage internal mobility because people who've worked there have a lot more to offer than just the hard skills, such as the network, knowledge of systems, how the structure works, etc.

  5. The company offers competitive benefits and compensation but inadequate training and development programs for its staff.

    Pros

    * competitive salary and benefits - Salary is at par with its competitors within the banking system. It offers a wide range of non-monetary benefits such as gym membership, child care centre, novated lease, etc. It sponsors sporting events in which you could get free tickets.
    * good working environment - People I've worked with are generally nice and supportive.
    * diverse and inclusive workforce - They are against any form of discrimination especially during the recruitment and selection process.

    Cons

    * poor technical support team and IT infrastructure - Technical team often does not stick to the SLA of 1 day. It will take you more than 10 minutes waiting time on the phone before they could attend to you. Hold time is very frustrating.
    * inadequate training and development programs - They just give the minimum support for the staff to fulfil his role. They seldom hone employees who exhibit high potential.
    * limited career progression - Only a few gets to the top. Office politics often comes into play.

    Advice to Management

Review your employee retention program and identify gaps within your system.

    Pros

They really let you do stuff and guided you through your tasks. The people are very friendly and willing to help you if you ask questions and show you enthusiasm to work.

    Cons

Commercial Banking (CMB) seems like the busiest department in the bank, so expect to work over hour even if you are just an intern, because everyone else in the team also works after hour and you feel obligated to stay and help them.

    Pros

The "super regional" expansion across Asia is quite an exiting thing to be part of and gives you an opportunity to work with people all across Asia.

    Cons

Like any large bank, there is quite a bit of bureaucracy and red tape. Sometimes change take a while to implement.

    Pros

Overall, my experience with ANZ is very optimistic. The culture is very competitive but humane. There are work-life balance. Different from local banks and Citibank in Singapore, ANZ's business is not that crowded. So the lowest position of our department is director. And they are very competitive and professional, highly-efficient while working.

    Cons

For graduates, ANZ Singapore is not a idealable company for internship if you are targeted at looking full-time jobs based on the internship. Because there are very few full-time positions for fresh graduates. Most of their positions ask for those with at least 3 years' working experience. But if you are studying Australia and New Zealand, that will be a totally different story.

  11. ANZ Growing still but linked to China's growth
