I have been working at Australia and New Zealand Banking full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

For employees willing to put their hand up for more without hesitating to go beyond core responsibilities, numerous progression opportunities exist. Senior management recognition and a feeling of appreciation is also not uncommon. ANZ is at the forefront of the industry in terms of global market scope and caliber of platforms on offer.

    Cons

Inexplicable budget cuts, staff churn over not back-filled, continuous push to "do more" with "less" can be demoralizing and damaging to work-life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Short-sighted goals and project that aim to reduce operating costs often end up having the opposite effect in the medium term and this always impacts the external Customer, at times indirectly and at times directly, hurting ANZ's position in the marketplace.

I worked at Australia and New Zealand Banking full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Salary and benefits are good. This is quite honestly my only pro.

    Cons

Terrible leadership. Worst technology strategy I have seen in my life. Tons of inexperienced management recruited through friends and put into the wrong positions. Bad working conditions. No incentive to be a performer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are few if any of the multitude of technology managers that you need to retain at ANZ. You do however need to hire many many more with real world experience who know what they are doing. Get rid of the management who are management because they've been at ANZ for 20 years and find some people with drive and experience.

I worked at Australia and New Zealand Banking full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good and talented will get recognised.
Work-life balance is good and no stress. Some times we may have to extend on weekends but will be compensated for the same.

    Cons

Not easy to move up the ladder as there are people who are staying in the organisation for more than 10 yrs. So less chance for new comers for higher roles.
Technology wise less growth and hence your knowledge may get rust unless you polish it every now and then.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please transfer more technical work to Bangalore and upgrade legacy systems.

I have been working at Australia and New Zealand Banking full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall, ANZ is a great place to work. Good work-life balance. Great opportunities for career progression especially in the growing Asia Pacific markets. Good salaries, friendly atmosphere and supportive managers and colleagues.

    Cons

IT support could be better. The bank is going through consolidating their IT systems which is a move in the right direction. However support is still currently below average. A lot of time wasted on unproductive meetings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Improve the IT support for staff. A lot of time and productivity wasted as a result of inefficient IT support.
    - Measure the amount of time people spend on meetings and establish if this can be reduced with a view to improve productivity.

    Pros

Very friendly, good atmosphere, and everyone was willing to put down what they were doing to give you a hand.

    Cons

There were really no major cons to this job. I guess the only one would be that the name is relatively unknown by one people outside of the banking world.

    Pros

Flexible working arrangement not an issue, do not need to work on most weekends, quite interesting projects for inhouse legal to be involved in, super regional strategy, lots of opportunity to work overseas and Asia

    Cons

No pay rise for 3 years in a row. This means salary gets eroded by inflation. Technology and it systems sometime does not work and it takes ages to get anything fixed on your computer, so this affects job productivity.
