Pros
Pay is great and benefits are excellent.
Cons
Too high expectations on making production. This is for the DC.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to give more time on production. It can be very hard when working Inbound and having to wait on work. Downtime for that needs to be given when legit.
Pros
They always strive to put the customer first. That makes it easy to get tha job done so you can help them
Cons
They are a large corporation so sometimes it feels that you can get lost in the machine. They in the end have to care about the bottom line
Pros
I worked in the Ontario Distribution Center as an Advisor. Like any job there were upsides and downsides, but overall I enjoyed my time at AutoZone. I wasn’t there very long but I was there long enough to see that upper management is dedicated to their jobs and showed genuine concern for the Autozoners that worked for them. The promotion opportunities are set only by the desire of the individual. They are there; you just have to go after them. If you are considering going to work for AutoZone as an Advisor it will be the most challenging job you could ever have. I enjoyed the challenge because no two days were the same. I had an incredible team of Autozoners that took pride in helping the “new guy” learn the ropes. They truly made the job fun day in and day out. Senior management was very good about listening to the needs (perceived and real) of their Autozoners.
Cons
If you are salaried management, you will be there one hour before the start of each shift and one hour after it ends. That will make for a very long work week; learn to deal with it or find someplace else to work. You could almost double the number of Advisors on the floor on any shift and it would be profitable in the long run. The training program for newly hired management could be more closely monitored. Sometimes I felt like I was left out of the loop because I was a trainee. If you are an hourly employee you need to understand that business will always come first and your personal needs will come second.
Advice to Senior Management
Life does not begin and end with production numbers and the absentee policies. That seemed to be the emphasis when I worked there. People have lives and they need to be able to plan those lives around something other than the DC’s workload. Promote from within.
Pros
the best thing is the discount thats all
Cons
easy to bring someone of the street for management and try no to offer anyone what they are worth. they bring inpeop;le makeing more than guys that have been there for years and trying to make them train them that will not hapen
Advice to Senior Management
start offering money to your employees that make the p;lace run and if you want to promote someone from a red shirt to a gray shirt dont offer them 25 cents. esp;ecially when you see that there making money hand over fist and when there stock prices are at least 250 dollars over the competior and there employees are getting paid better
Pros
Love to help customers with their needs and concerns , AutoZone is the industry leader in customer satisifaction and customer service.
Cons
As with any publically held company we have to work more with less , this is especially true with human capital.
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure that policies and programs have been tested before pushing them to the stores , the stores don't have the time to correct programs in the field.
Pros
Paycheck, employee discount, occupation, friends
Cons
Auto Zone policy is comparable to a jelly fish. Customers know that, most of the time, they will have their way. Few customers treat employees with little more respect than, "the stuff you wipe off your shoe(s)". Point in case; customers make the job a nightmare, not Auto Zone.
Advice to Senior Management
clean out "outdated" data from the DIY system
Pros
warm friendly atmosphere. company discount.
Cons
Management from territory manager up places too much pressure on us to make their unattainable sales quotas. we can only do so much in a down economy... No positive reinforcement all negative feedback.... hard to shoulder...
Advice to Senior Management
a lil pat on the pack goes a long way, guys!!!
Pros
Discounts, Informative, Descent Pay, Laid Back
Cons
Hours not the best, No overtime
Advice to Senior Management
Be more flexible with hours
Pros
Many opportunities to move up
Cons
The biggest downfall working for autozone is treatment by upper management. After that is the stupid cheer. I mean comon guys this is the most ridiculous thing that grown people could do! And now the company is getting into heavy micro management , how many kpi s can you force upon your managers ? I think this used to be a great company that is going to be ruined by corporate greed and stupidty! And now comes the kissing ass of stupid customers we can t win if you get a customer complaint, no matter how rude they are , they get a gift card and a discounted part how stupid is that? And lastly , the new greeting: what are you working on today that is the most assanine way to greet customers ,you would be surprised how the customers react to that stupid question! I think ceo bill roades needs to have his head examined for presenting that at the national sales meeting.
Advice to Senior Management
Ok guys this is a solid company but if you don t back off all the pressure you are putting on your management , the whole company is going to lose good help and will suffer.
Pros
Flexible schedule, benefits, paid vacation, decent pay,
Cons
very little praise from upper management, inconsistent direction, constant threats for various sales goals, upper management requires no education other than diploma or ged,
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on fewer goals, make goals attainable, react to employee dissatisfaction in an appropriate manner, better communication to lower level employees.
