I worked at AutoZone full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Strong company values. Customer oriented. Cares about people. Good benefits. On the job training. Gained lots of management experience and professional skills. Was able to work with many great people and customers.

    Cons

Unreasonable expectations to sell more and more. Upper management never satisfied. Very few weekends off. Was basically promised promotion after promotion until I got tired of empty promises and left.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Allow more flexibility in scheduling.

I have been working at AutoZone full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Probably best pay in the industry, good benefits

    Cons

One holiday still stands, Christmas. Unreasonable hours. No recognition for effort or accomplishment. Company wants managers who work hard but blend into the background. No standouts, no questions, no opinions, no input. there is no bench, and the unyielding enforcement of the inadequate scheduling software makes running the business nearly impossible at times. There is no bench and the stores are perpetually short handed which causes huge morale issues. The company does nothing creative or resourceful to address these issues and seems to be following the example of walmart. Overall a very oppressive employer.

I worked at AutoZone full-time for less than a year

    Pros

One will get to know auto parts, battery and light installations. Paychecks come on time. Company offers an impressive intranet, although you're never allowed time to explore it.

    Cons

Poor Training, Poor Communications, Poor Management. Rips off public with forced sales. The hours for a manager can be very long and unrewarding. There was an uncomfortable feeling of racial tension.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please concentrate on employees more and profit less. It's like a political campaign, in so much as the company says one thing but means another.

I worked at AutoZone full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good computer systems and potentially decent District management level support team.

    Cons

There is too much of a dis-connect between store managers and stores and the corporate office. You are almost discouraged from contacting the corporate office for anything which tends to make employees feel like just a number.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage managers and employees you get to know Inventory Control Analyst, Loss Prevention, Alarm Services Personnel, etc.... at the corporate level so team members don't feel like they are trying to make money for some faceless entity in Memphis.

I have been working at AutoZone full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Fair wages, good benefits, solid company.

    Cons

Some disconnect between levels of management. Dome report numbers change after fact....no one has confirmed answer as what changes sre caused by and what they really sre for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More clear and defined answers on report changes. More consistency in directions; while in other areas realize different areas of the country respond differently to promotions...one plan does mot always eork across the board..

    Pros

Discounts, meeting new people, flexible for part time people.

    Cons

Pay not really for the job. Too much emphasis on certain sales.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at the job your employees do well, not at your bonus check potential.

I have been working at AutoZone part-time for less than a year

    Pros

You get to learn more about cars and make a mad costumer into a happy one. They work with you schedule. It is a pretty easy job.

    Cons

They expect you to be able to be able to do so much for such a low pay. It's not required for you to put a lightbulb or battery on another persons car but they make you go out there and do it. A bunch of the times you don't have much coverage when you need to get things done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should get more employees in every store. The managers should help out more.
