Pros
Flexible, nice environment, casual dress. People are serious and talented here, and a good mix of cultures.
Cons
long hours, and really hard work
Advice to Senior Management
stop asking for so much!
Pros
The company takes two mandatory (unpaid) weeks off each year lately, for economic reasons, but it's a nice break for employees. In the Bay Area, there are several offices and the one in San Francisco is accessible to BART, Muni, busses, ferry, etc - great location.
Cons
HR does not talk to employees at all; I have seen some fighting to get their benefits for 6 months or more (we're talking basic benefits that all employees should have). Upper management changes strategy weekly and morale is sketchy as a result. People don't talk to one another and most have insecurity about their jobs. The level of disorganization is shocking for a company of this size.
Advice to Senior Management
Respect your employees. While working there I saw many people laid off with no explanation; this is highly disrepectful and confusing to those of us who continue to work there. You claim "sustainability" but should engage and educate your own employees on this.
Pros
Flexible work time. Easy to learn knowledge if you want
Cons
Fewer opportunities to tech engineer.
Advice to Senior Management
more opportunities in China
Pros
1. a good work and life balance in company
2. a good office in company
3. it is relatively fair in company
Cons
the salary is relatively not competitive. and the opportunity of getting prompted is very rarely. it is hard to transfer from one department to another.
Advice to Senior Management
I am totally disappointed with management team. every year, they made re-organization once for nothing. that's very stupid. it's better to do this for a good reason.
Pros
flexible work hours
nice people in general
interesting, not cool, but interesting products
Decent cafeteria food
Bring your dog to work allowed
Cons
All I tell my friends and colleagues is stay away from the pit that is the IT department. It's a poisoned atmosphere, not a fun place to work, and are rather unforgiving of the slightest mistakes. PIP's and firings occur regularly. Fascinating how ANYONE makes it there for 5 years.
Managers are not really good managers or mentors, and watch your back with the employees, they are after you too!
I was told you have to move around a lot to stay alive there. Glad I didn't stay to find out.
Advice to Senior Management
Change the place to a more humane place to work. Allow for learning moments, and get rid of the budget police. why does a manager spend 1/3rd of their time managing a budget at all. Strange place.
Pros
Best , user friendly technology to work with
Cons
Job security; I am not sure of the current status
Advice to Senior Management
None at this moment
Pros
flexible work time
good work and life balance
good communication
Cons
salary need to be increased
Advice to Senior Management
increase salary
Pros
Interesting technology. Good salary and benefits. Security. Decent work-life balance. Flexible about work hours and work location (i.e., home vs office).
Cons
Redundancy and confusion in the management structure. Hard to tell who is responsible for what. High ratio of managers to workers.
Advice to Senior Management
Our group is made up of several groups that used to work independently of each other. They have been stuffed together in a way that doesn't really work. I assume this isn't unique to us, so I would suggest that exec staff identify and clean up this kind of overlap. Also, it seems like the managers are here in the US and most of the people doing the hands-on work are in China -- that is not so great.
Pros
Best of world technology on certain areas
Good hardware
Nice working environment
Flexible working time
Cons
Less innovative product
Too much overtime work
Rigid process
frequent re-org
Advice to Senior Management
truly listen to employees' suggestion
Pros
the company does give great benefits in terms of stock options and medical stuff
they are fexiibiltiy in work timings.
Cons
bad management
company direction seems to be changing too often
senior management does not set good examples to the rest
Advice to Senior Management
something must be wrong at the top. listen more to the employees. set clear directions and try harder to set good examples. walk the talk.
